General Mach Discussion / Re: Servo Encoder Feedback
« on: December 31, 2010, 01:44:00 PM »
Ok thanks.  I was hoping it did now that I have a fair grasp of how Mach works.  I guess I'll look at EMC again for this one.  I want real feedback to my software for DRO like operation.

General Mach Discussion / Servo Encoder Feedback

Does Mach support servo encoder feedback?  A few minutes of playing and looking doesn't show it to me obviously if it does.

I am just beginning a Hurco KMB1 retrofit to PC control.  Probably going to take the empty box approach.  Removed a couple plastic crumbling encoders and a damaged motor yesterday.  Will probably test the VFD and DC PS today if I can borrow a scope from one of my buddies.  Have no clue what happened to mine when I moved my office.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

32 VS 64.  How do you tell?

32 bit is necessary when using?

1.  Just a break out board?
2.  G540?
3.  Smooth Stepper?
4.  Other?

How big of code files are you running?  I routinely run 50,000 lines of code now and run over 100K once in a while.

General Mach Discussion / Windows 7

It took me a long time to figure out a stable reliable configuration using XP Pro SP2 with my Taig.

Now I am looking for a PC for the little MaxNC I finished retrofitting with bigger motors, better screws, and a Gecko Controller.  I tested it all out on my design computer, but I don't want to take that machine away from being available for design.  I was looking on Staples website today and found no options for XP Pro except a downgrade (maybe) to SP3.  I was told by everybody here, "STAY AWAY FROM SP3."

By the way, my design computer is running an SP3 downgrade from 7.

Anybody getting good reliability under Windows 7 or am I going to have to go yard sale hopping to find a licensed copy of XP Pro SP2?

On Amazon a full verison is going for as much as a whole computer still.

General Mach Discussion / Re: E Stop

Use a double pole double throw switch.  Cut AC to machine with one, and cut e-stop circuit to LPT port with other.

Hi All,
Personally I prefer a mains voltage control circuit for the E Stop rather than software controlled by mach3.(software crash no E stop)
Just wondering is it possible for some way of telling mach that a E stop of this configuration has been pressed so as mach would stop running too?

I have run about 90,000 lines of code a couple times.

Works great.  I need to slow down the machine a bit, but it works fine.

Thanks.  I already downloaded it onto the brain for The Metal Nibbler Two.  Took me a while to get that fancy schmancy LPT port figured out, but it worked just fine when I did thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Latest Lockdown Version

Mach3 R3.042.040

Is that the latest lockdown version?  I tried to download it directly, got a survey / poll form, answered it, and get a, "This ID doesn't exist!" message.  I checked the FTP directory and there is a file named "Mach3Version3.042.040.exe."

Is there an error or is this to prevent people from downlaoding the latest version without checking in somehow?
