General Mach Discussion / start relay
« on: January 22, 2009, 09:06:13 PM »
.I made up a one line brain that was to turn on the spindle
with a 5 sec delay as a test.I found that:as soon as the spindle is started
the relays on my breakout board would close.I turned off the brain
and on the spindle setup added a 5 sec delay. This did nothing.
I then turned off the outputs on the ports /pins for the spindle start.
The spindle would still run.I then changed the port and pin numbers to something
stupid ,still worked.
Is there something in the xml file for my Bob Campbell breakout board that is doing this?
I just added a Smooth stepper, might this be the cause?
.Maybe use relays not connected to the breakout board?

Brains Development / Re: Spindle Contactor Brain, with Delay.........

ok this gets wierder.I made up a one line brain that turns on the spindle
with a 5 sec delay. The start relays closed as soon as spinle run pressed.
I then turned off the output and the relay would still close on
a spindle start.I put in a bogus number for the start relays and it still worked.
Now I'm really confused.

I have made up a brain to do somewhat the same.I want to shift high/low
by the value entred in the speed dro or as an m3/m4.I'm using a bob that has relays
for the spindle output 1 & 2.My brain runs fine on my test bench, dwell works ,inputs are required to
activate. However on the machine as soon as it has a spindle on command it bypasses the brain and
activates the relays for the spindle on.Meanwhile the brain is running corectly in the background.?
On the diagnostic page the spindle is running before the output led is lit?

General Mach Discussion / printing brains

ok this maybe a simple one; How do you print out a brain so that the size is
big enough to read?I work on my brains at my desk with a bread board
then when all seems well type it in to my machine.Thing is with short simple
stuff no problem but now some of these things are grOWING. ;)

General Mach Discussion / Re: troubleshooting modbus

Cubloc issue is sorted out.Seems with an up grade they did not check the modbus
configuration on the base board for the cb290.I struggled for too long before contacting the
cubloc people.I guess the lesson is we might not be as dumb as we think we are.
Now I've got some of the controlled functions working from the brains I wrote.

Well with some input from Garrett over at comfile and some head scratching, all is working.

Well another very frustrating day trying to configure the Cubloc CB 290.Has anyone ever used this
with Mach3.Turns out that the outputs on the 290 have to be turned on with a line of basic code
and this seems to be the conflict.

Thanks for the replys.I have a copy of the henriksplace on my desk ,good help there.
I tried changeing refresh up/down ,baud up/down usb /serial and a serial pci card.
I also tried a differant cubloc module the cb280 and it works fine.Only thing is not
enough i/o and I havethe cubase for the 290.

I think I found it.I'm using a Cubloc cb290.This unit has a fair amount of i/o so would be good on
my machine.Turns out that in the basic code for the unit it needs a line to turn the outputs on.
They are in a high impedence state on power on.Remove the line of code and all is well ,exept
that there are no outputs. ::)

Any ideas on what to check for the modbus setup?I must have a conflict somewhere
but I cannot find it.I have had it work but briefly.
