Thanks Hood.  I was wondering if anyone was going to be able to help me.  From what I have seen, you are the man.

General Mach Discussion / Diagnostics Screen INPUT #6 keeps fashing
« on: July 17, 2009, 09:56:43 AM »
I have an INPUT #6 LED flashing on my diagnostics screen and I can't figure out what is causing it.  I have been to ports and pins and disabled anything to do with Input #6 and no matter what it sits there flashing.  I don't know what else to do or where to look to turn this off.

Can someone point me to a solution please.

Thanks John

General Mach Discussion / Re: Trouble getting MPG to work

Hi Scott

I was wondering how you made out with your MPG.  I read your post and I have exactly the same problem with the same make and model of hardware where everything but the wheel functions. Have you had any further success on getting it up and running.  Please post anything else you are trying.

Thanks
John

General Mach Discussion / Stepper Motor Runs in Wrong Direction
« on: July 16, 2009, 09:41:44 AM »
After days of frustration I have finally got my Taig/Gecko G540 system setup except for one minor caveat.  My x/y home is bottom left, my "Ref All" sends everything to the right place and my Limit and Home switches which areall on one input setup in series all work.  The problem is when I run some G-code it shows the motor direction on the screen going in the correct direction but on the table the Y Axis is running opposite to what the screen is indicating.  I dare not touch another "configure screen" for fear of meshing everything up and having to start all over.  Can somebody tell me what can be done to correct this problem.

Thanks so much

John

General Mach Discussion / Re: Am I Reading this Correctly

Thank you. Now I understand the use of that button.  I also turned on the sphere. Is it possible to alter the size of the sphere as it is rather large but that may be relative to the size of the image.

When will Mach 4 be available?

Thanks again
John

General Mach Discussion / Am I Reading this Correctly
« on: June 28, 2009, 08:25:20 PM »
I am testing some G-code and getting the feel of MACH 3 while I wait for the rest of my electronics to show up for my "soon to be" CNC Taig mill.  During this time I noticed an issue I would like some clarification on.

The "Jog Follow" button beneath the small display window has not been checked yet when I run some G-code there is a following line created as the program runs.  But when I check the "Jog Follow" button the following line disappears until such time as the button is unchecked.  Shouldn't it be that if I check this button, the following line is visible and if I uncheck it the following line is no longer visible.

This "following line" that depicts the tool path also does not appear at all in the display window when I am testing code in the MDI tab yet in screen shots there clearly is a line that follows the G-c ode.  Have I inadvertently turned something off by accident.  BTW, in all cases the DROS are changing values so there is perceived movement by Mach 3 even if there are no motors attached at the moment.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Help with the wizards
« on: June 20, 2009, 10:56:40 PM »
I hope this isn't one of those real "doh!" questions as it my first on this forum but here goes.  I just finished downloading Mach3 and configuring it for my system.  Its a TAIG mill and I haven't completed the installation of all of the electronics package yet.  Without being connected to my controller or anything else for that matter, I wanted to try out the wizards and see how they function but every time I run one and try to enter a number into one of the variable boxes it initially accepts the number but then it reverts back to its original entry as soon as I go on to another box.  It won't accept any input from me what so ever.  These are the wizards that come with Mach3 and not the add-on wizard package you purchase.  Sometimes with demo's they won't run everything until you buy it so I checked the "About Mach3" in the drop down menu and it shows me as the licensed user/owner off this software, so thats not it.

I've been through the manual I there is no mention of anything other than "fill in the boxes" and your good to go.  What am I doing wrong or haven't initialized in order to run the wizards.

Thanks
John W.

Hi Folks

I have been hobby machining now for 8 years and most of it I have learned on my own and from forums.  I am 55 years old and into firearms. I have just recently designed and brought to market a new conversion kit for the Ruger 1022 rifle that turns it into a Thompson SMG.  Lately my interest has been towards CNC.  One of my mills is a Taig and I have wanted to convert it to CNC to make small parts that would be a pain on my big mill.  So here I am wanting to pick peoples brains and to learn.  Hopefully there will become a time when I can contribute to the forum rather than to just take.

Thanks in advance for all the help you people have to offer.

John W.
