General Mach Discussion / Re: Jogging off limits question.
« on: December 22, 2009, 05:24:31 PM »
Hey again Hood!  I  have had a terrible day working on this thing..I posted another post but will spare you. Heheheee...

I dont know anything about running a cnc.I play around with test programs without the spindle running and I always seem to hit one of the limits. Stupid I know. I cant run this yet but have fun watching the mill do its moves. At least a little enjoyment.I do get a kick out of watching it just move around. Sick I know...

I just noticed that I could hit reset and jog off the z but not the x or y. Yes its the auto limit override.Couldnt remember the name..If I hit the x or y I have to go into the pins and ports and change the active high or low setting then go back and jog off and then go back and reset it.Kinda a pain. I  know I should stay away from the limits but I am just playing. Why would it work on Z but not the others?   Thanks  Jim

General Mach Discussion / Jogging off limits question.
« on: December 22, 2009, 04:33:00 PM »
I have the pins set to jog off  limits. It works on the Z axis but not on the X or Y. All I can figure is it has something to do with having 2 switches for Z limits and only one switch for the x and y axis. This is on a BP boss.. Any ideas how to overcome this?? Does this make sense??

General Mach Discussion / need help on mach seeing spindle direction
« on: October 10, 2009, 06:42:25 PM »
I have totally redone my BP series 1 cnc mill. I have all going but havent tied the ac drive to mach control yet. Is there a way to set it up so Mach can see when the mill is in open range or backgear? If you shift the head then run  the spindle, it changes direction as all backgeared mills do. I can put a micro switch on the shifter lever but then what?? Thanks   Jim

Thanks Hood. Is it ok to leave it here? It will run slower correct? It seems like it is and the . I tried to change dip switches but couldnt get it dialed in. Here is the drive that I am using. It is set at 256 now.             http://www.kelinginc.net/KL-8078.pdf

Thanks for your help.  Ps. I have never ran or been around a cnc so I am totally ignorant to this stuff.Been machining for 25 years tho..Just want to play!!

Ok. Started over this morning. I kept changing things yesterday and ended up having everything wrong.

Reset everything and all motors are running at jog. Yipiee..  I started tuning and I dont know what is wrong again. I have the steps up to 16000.    :o  Yes thats right.that is what it took to get the dro to read correctly. What do I have set wrong??   ???

the screw is .200 pitch. I have 2 to 1 pulleys. A 24 tooth on the screw and a 12 tooth on the motor. The motors are keling 906 oz steppers.

I know what I have works but isnt correct.  Thanks a bunch      Jim

Hi Hood.  Yea I am sure that is the axis problem but what about it only moving one direction even when you change from +  or - on the axis jog button on the screen?

Hi   Totally new to this stuff.  Doing a conversion on a BP cnc series 1.

I replaced all steppers and have keling drives with a G 11 BOB from cnc4pc.

I just fired it up. I have 6 or so red lights on on the BOB. I can jog 2 motors but they will only go in 1 direction. My Y axis is the Z jog button. All the leds on the mach display for inputs are out.

Any advice?  Doesnt the red lights on the BOB mean there is something wrong??
                Thanks,  Jim
