I love it when I figure things out for myself!

When I entered z-.001, then z.001... That is actually .002" movement.

Everything works like it should.

General Mach Discussion / backlash comp, pendant and mdi difference
« on: May 28, 2012, 11:54:08 PM »
I have .004" backlash in my z.

I tuned it out with backlash compensation, and was verifying it with my Vista CNC pendant.

I then decided to check it with an mdi command. It was spot on with pendant, but overtravels by a thou with mdi.

Why would this be?

Nevermind. That's not a touchscreen monitor.

There's so many to choose from... i'm getting a migraine searching for one around $200

Think this would be a good one? I can never find the specs on the screen touch style.

And the people using touch screens, do you open a windows keyboard and use the monitor for typing... completely eliminating a keyboard?

I guess you're supposed to turn off power to machine and manually jog off limit switches?

136
I have to hit reset button, a Mach window pops up that says switches need to be reset, do I want Mach to do this for me.

I click yes, reset stops flashing. I then jog off tripped switch.

But after the axis is off switches, the switches are inactive.

137
I tripped a limit switch... screen pops up in mach and I hit reset on screen, them back off tripped switch, then hit flashing reset button again.

I then proceeded to home machine and it went past my trip switches.

What is the procedure for this to not happen again? It's like the limit switches were disabled.

(I did uncheck watchdog earlier in the day because it seems like people were having problem with this. I have newest version of mach... should I keep watchdog enabled?)

hole is for chips/coolant. removeable tray will be underneath.

It's 5053 aluminum. SS welds like crap... I like aluminum way better. corrosion resistant, plus reflects light for easy viewing.

I should have it installed in a few days. I'll post some finished pics. I still have to design some type of window for the front, maybe sides.

I just finished mine.

If your part is moveable, drill bushings, and a drill press is all that's needed.
