General Mach Discussion / cycle start g01 z0.000 error
« on: March 08, 2012, 10:02:34 AM »
After my spindle start line, my cam puts in the g01 z0.00 line.

All my Dro's are set to zero, when I hit cycle start it stops at this line and says it cannot complete this task.

My quick fix was to jog z to .001" then run program and it worked fine.

My gcode always has this line in there, this is first time this has happened.

Why would it do that?

General Mach Discussion / why would my x0,y0, z0 change after I zero it?
« on: February 17, 2012, 11:21:28 PM »
I'm using a part that I've made before, but I just changed my toolpath strategy.

I started cutting it, didn't like it... so I re-did strategy. loaded new g-code... zeroed my dro... part starts cutting and it's off.

I stop it... look at my x,y it's x.634, y.634.

I go to MDI x0,y0 and table moves like 3 inches in both directions.

I restart computer, and it keeps doing same thing.

What's going on?

General Mach Discussion / vista spindle tach not showing up in rpm box
« on: February 07, 2012, 12:46:32 AM »
I'm using a 6axis blue screenset.

The spindle tach looks like it's working, but rpm value does not show in display. Apparently a known Mach bug?

Any help?

Ok, cut my first partin the new fangled solutions spiral circle wizard. It cuts a Perfect circle... But I tried to cut a .862" dia with a 3/4" endmill. Circle ended up being .838".

Why would this be?

General Mach Discussion / looking for a circular pocket wizard video
« on: December 04, 2011, 11:58:05 PM »
trying to learn how to cut a circular pocket with a wizard.

I already almost crashed my machine because some of the wizards are metric... didn't like that.

viewing a video would be a big help, searched youtube and couldn't find one... or any video of a wizard use may be a big help

General Mach Discussion / touch probe design idea
« on: July 21, 2011, 08:13:01 PM »
we're all worried about breaking the probes.

ok, standard probe design and tip... but the probe body's shaft that goes into collet... on end that goes into probe body install a round magnet, that the shaft will sit on (slightly recessed).

This way in an over travel situation the body will break away from the shaft.

No need to design the probe tip to break off.

General Mach Discussion / Using Mach as a camshaft measuring device
« on: October 20, 2010, 12:06:00 PM »
I'm thinking of building a camshaft measuring test stand, needs to be accurate to .00005" or at worst case .0005".

My original plan was to use a linear digital indicator with a SPC cable going into excel for graphing. But... I do need a rotation means of measurement also for my formula's.

I don't know how to let the rotation record simultaneously... or in sync with the linear.

Any thoughts?
