I misstated when I said That I ran the Accel Higher. Actually I ran the Accel at 30 and the Velocity at 35. I guess I'll go mess with it. Maybe I've got too much of a spread between the two right now.

I just got done upgrading my machine leadscrews. When carving lettering, specifically in the curves, my machice seems to be very jerky. When it's on straight lines on the X or Y, it's smooth. I was told on another forum that I should be running my Accel at less than the Velocity. Right now it's set at 50 on the Velocity and 10 on the Accel. Before the upgrades, I used to run the Accel higher than the Velocity and seemed to be much smoother. What should I do? I am running Vcarve pro and Mach3.

By de-tuning, I assume you mean "steps per minute". I'm only running 30, and sometimes on certain things I'll run 35. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Got one of the very few problems I have had with my machine. Yesterday, I was carving pine trees on some 2x6 cedar boards, and the machine at the finish of the cut just kept going farther than the end point. It did fine on the first board and then did that on the second. Then on the third try, it carved the tree too narrow. All this was done with the same G-Code file. Then this morning, I went out and thought I would try carving just a rectangle with inverted corners. Did the first board just fine again, then on the second try it started just fine. As it kept going, it appeared that it was carving deeper than it should. By the time I got it stopped, it had went almost half way down through the board. I'm fairly certain it's not the G-Code. I'm using VCarve Pro 6.5 and Mach3 controller software. I wonder if it could be my controller box or maybe a file somehow got corrupted in Mach3.
Any ideas or ever experienced this before?

Just letting you know that its working good now and got my sign carved with no problems. Another thing I learned out of this is "maintenance". Been carving with this machine for so long now with no problems that I just took it for granted. Well, I started checking things and found some items that were starting to loosen. The reason I did this is because I did a test carve and my X axis would get to a certain point and stall out. Well, come to find out, the brackets that my leadscrew nuts attach to were loose. Tightened everything up and I think it's carving better than ever now. Anyway, thank you for all the help. You saved me from pulling what hair I have left out.

I ran it back up to 8000, and lowered the jog rate to 60 and it seems to be working fine now. Is the XML stored in the backup folder?

To save the XML, do you go to config and at the bottom is save settings. Then do you go to XML backups folder and it should be the last one in there? In the readme it says to rename the extention.

That was it Wood. I set mine to 7200 and seems just about right. Never would have thought of that. It's carving the proper size and all.  Documentation, Documentation, Documentation. I'll never go through that again! Well at least until the next big Blue One.

Just checked my jumpers on my board and appears I'm 1/4 stepping same as you. So, looks like you are using a setup very similar to mine, I appear to be way off on the steps per unit. I'll try that and see what happens. Man, a little documentation sure could of prevented alot headache.
