General Mach Discussion / How often do you upgrade your version of Mach?
« on: September 17, 2009, 03:30:18 PM »
I'm just getting started and I'm currently using version R3.042.020 of Mach that I downloaded when I first got my machine.  I noticed that the current lockdown version is R3.042.029.  Just wondering if I should upgrade.  I'm not currently having any problems.

What's the concensus? Do you always download the latest version when it's available?

Just curious if anyone found any answers concerning this problem.  I am experiencing sporadic Soft Limit warnings when I'm well within the limits.  I'll get the warning on one run and not on the next run.  I'm baffled ???

Thanks guys!  Now I understand what you're talking about.  At the moment, I don't even know if my version of Mach has that button, but I'll look the next time I run it.

I kind of got that from the previous posts.  I'm just not clear on exactly how it manifests itself.  Are these messages that appear in the status bar...like the limit switch triggered messages?  Is it on all the time?  What should I be looking for?  I don't remember it being mentioned in the on-line manual or the tutorial videos, so I totally clueless.

The abnormal condition function can be a PITA as it will pick up a condition that is out of the ordinary. It does not however know whether that condition is wrong or not just that its not your normal. If previously you didnt have home switches and now do then that could be seen as abnormal as you have now started homing.
If you click on it when its flashing it will tell you why it is and offer you the option to set it to a normal condition if its correct.

Still new to Mach and I have no idea what this function is.  Can you elaborate?

Excuse me for butting in.  Not trying to highjack the thread, but I have a question on this issue.

I understand that it would be best to correct a noise problem rather than cover it up with a high debounce value.  However, if the problem is infrequent and setting a debounce value corrects the problem, is that a "reasonable" way to deal with it?  If yes, what would be considered a "reasonable" debounce value?

Regarding debounce, what is the downside of setting the debounce value too high (aside from covering up a known problem)?

I'm guessing that it's the code.  I tried to do that Y to A conversion once (BobCAD V19) and couldn't figure out the code output ("crazy" results too). I posted a question on the BobCAD forum and never got any answers.  It was more or less an experiment, so I eventually gave up.

If you find out how to make it work, I'd love to know how.

There's also written documentation.

I imagine that you've already checked this, but could your "slow jog" percentage be set to zero?

If you jog with the shift key pressed (fast jog), does it work then?
