Mach4 General Discussion / Re: System recommendation for newbie

I have followed and i recomend the machbob 3 as a breakout board. its made to work with the Ethernet smooth stepper and provide 24v io and analog spindle. It really it a superior bob. You can find a link at warp nine the makers of the smooth stepper. Or www.cncroom.com

Mach4 General Discussion / AVG got me twice

Stat away from AVG antivirus. Every time I have tried it on a machine it makes movement jerky and abrupt. Remove it and all goes well. This is with the Ethernet smooth stepper. I am planning to stick with microsoft essentials. I would also be interested in what you use and what success or failure you have had.

Hi What screen are you using?
There is a pushbutton on the tab screen for enabling soft limits. this needs to be on or the soft limits or the soft limits are on. Also have you homed the machine as homing sets your soft limits also

Mach4 General Discussion / Windows 10 home and mach4
« on: October 31, 2019, 04:12:48 PM »
Hello
I am upgrading a mill and just received a intel nuc I use these all the time. But they either come programmed or I install windows 10 pro and only pro on them. So i get a unit with windows 10 home install and a digital license. I figure just install windows 10 pro all good right. I attempt to install windows 10 pro and attempt to insert oem and it doesnt take the oem. then proceeds to change the install to home.

looks like i am stuck with home as i do not know how to get around this. Has anybody used mach4 successfully with windows 10 home and do you have any pointers. I know home has mandatory update but if you disconnect the WiFi then you have control over when it updates.
thank you

CS-Lab / Re: Simple problem, but I can not get it to work

Well the Manual was translated from polish so you have to expect some discrepancies as they aren't native English speakers. as for normally open or normally closed you just change active low or high. When the circuit is complete and on you should have a led. you need to hook up both sides of the circuit. go from the 24v power supply + to the switch then from the switch to the + input. take the 0v - input and connect to the negative on the power supply. you should get a led before you head in to mach

On thing i just recently found on drives outputting encoder signals you need the 0v hooked between the drive and the controller. otherwise the ip/a has no reference as the circuit is not complete.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: VFD in box or not

Thank you for your input. I have this to add. I am upgrading the controller also. This is going on a lagun mill and I have seen something I have never seen before. I have a wiring diagram and I find this wire #1 goes to the neutral of the 110vac transformer and the same #1 goes to all 0v on the 24volt dc power. it is the damnest thing I have looked and looked and it is wired just like that. I am planning to separate ac neutral and 0vdc just for my own sanity.

Mach4 General Discussion / VFD in box or not
« on: October 28, 2019, 06:52:51 PM »
Hello I see lots of panels with VFDs mounted in them. And yet VFDs are noisy so that would say keep them away from motion control and drives. Anyhow I want you opinion on weather to put it in a box or not and if you ever had trouble.
thank you
