Brains Development / Re: Feedrate override with MPG
« on: September 26, 2009, 01:44:12 PM »
I have been watching this post for an answer, also. I have issues getting MPGs to do the functions (similar to yours) I need. I have tried a couple of posted brains and have written 2 of my own and keep hitting a brick wall at some point. Maybe someone will have pity on us!

Galil / Re: Mach3 + Galil

:P Sorry, smurph. I already did the firmware upgrade and both of those issues went away. I can't get over how impressive big, brushed DC motors are when you give them all the volts they want and hold them in tight control! The section in the plugin pdf instructions about 'move settings' had me hung for a while or I would have gotten back sooner. The machine had a stutter problem that I was trying to work out with the Queue Buffer setting. I noticed it didn't have much effect on the stutter until I turned Linear Interpolation on. The picture showed it off. Then I read it was to be off only on Acceleras. I need to read before I do. Thanks for the response!

??? Can someone tell me what an operand error is and why I get one using a DMC-1832 with Mach? Even when I just jog the error shows up in the status box. Also, with a DMC-1425 the encoder count goes up and down slightly when I push on the machine (as it should) but with the DMC-1832 it doesn't. I am wondering if a firmware upgrade on the 1832 is in order.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Router Pendant - uses the U-HID device.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one with issues with PoKeys and MPGs. The subject of feedrate override seems to be under-covered in the forum and the wiki. It is easy to get the signals to Mach but difficult to get Mach to do anything with them. I have defaulted to a pair of buttons for FRO increase and FRO decrease. Hard to do anything else without Modbus or a brain that I lack(literally and figuratively).

General Mach Discussion / Re: Line Limit with License

I always wondered why so many part files I come across have a % at the end! Now I know!

General Mach Discussion / Re: mach 3 license

I think a lot of the trouble with installing a license is that people drag or copy the license folder to Mach instead of the license file. Made that mistake a few times.

PoKeys / Re: New Pokeys Plugin!! with LCD support added!!

OK, it got me good. Is the installer fixed now?

Just a small-signal PNP transistor with a 10-12 volt external power source should do the trick. NTE 59 or equiv. should do it.

PoKeys / PoKeys and KeyGrabber
« on: August 18, 2009, 05:46:35 AM »
I would have thought that the PoKey55 would have played well with KeyGrabber to make analog inputs and joysticks very easy for those of us who are
familiar with KeyGrabber. However, I cannot get the config screens in keygrabber to save. If I go through the config and start Mach from the KeyGrabber screen it works quite well. Also the joystick config screen is very jittery/unstable. It takes patience to get all the boxes filled in without errors. It likes to do an auto-select of some kind and jump the info entered in a right hand column to the leftmost column. It helps if I jump all the pots to ground. I tried doing the config with the PoKey unplugged but the PoJoystick config tab doesn't show up. Maybe someone else has gotten this to work.

Galil / Re: DMC 1425 minor issue, I hope
« on: May 12, 2009, 10:32:34 AM »
THAT was a forced march! The Galil registry system would not allow any comm with the controller even though it saw its IP address. I finally set up its IP through the serial port comm and got it registered as a NIC appliance. I just thought the motor response was good under the serial comm. It is fantastic using ethernet comm! The data record options were not available due to a Galil firmware update request but the setup works well as is. Thank you so much for getting me going! Gotta love DC brushed servos!
