been a bit since i posted here, been pretty busy actually.. this one was a bit different to do.. challenge was to cut it with hollows to bring weight down as its to be cast in platinum... even a 5th axis would have struggled with this so öut of the box"time

1: cut flips as per usual, add some caps
2: run rotary path over hollowing areas to cut through solid heart sections
3: use caps to plug holes only 1mm deep from top, melt into place with wax pen
4: run full rotary path
5: drink beer.. kick dog.. shout at kids.. fart..

(dusted gold to photograph better)

no idea? which version you using? besides the scaling bug i just found i have never really paid attention to the toolpath display as it sucks me dry, but generally if i do look at ti to verify something ti seems to be in proportion and accurate.

im on 04020

i just noticed something in my mach

if all my axis's are not zeroed when i load the path the path comes up skewed like yours, my y was at 103mm and it scaled out the whole ring over Y..  if i zero out XYZA then regenerate its fine again.

maybe try that?

i have seen and played with david scans extensively and they are BAD. you will require extensive reworking in cad to blend a fully 3 dimensional object. no point chasing super hi resolution in my opinion unless you are scanning tiny objects as it will cost you as much time cleaning up anyhow.

I have not played with toms plugin as I have not been able to finds a single cohesive thread on how to set it up yet. i have ample line lasers and box full of webcams..

can someone post a link to a step by step setup for 3d scannign on a 3 axis mill?  (1)  here is the software, (2) you  need this hardware (3) heres is how you hook it up

regards
Chris

DeskProto, www.deskproto.com and im kind of tied to it cuz the developer also produces a fixture that allows end users to cut 3 sided work with the click of a button. I want to expand on the wizards in the software to breath new life into milling and make it simpler for new entrants into the market.. wean a few sales away from the printer guys..

I hvae not tested changed microstepping yet.. will be doing so on weekend i guess. i dont have a mill at work so i have to do it at night, kinda make it HAVE to be right the first time...
