ok, i honed a profile cutter even more into a ...  ummm 2.5 sided cutter  ;D ;D ;D

works like a charm.

Wife is happy, painting her bathroom as we speak, and as we all know, a happy wife is a happy life, an unhappy wife is a bucket of strife!

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Windows 7
« on: September 22, 2009, 06:17:46 AM »
on my vista machines i get really bad driver tests, irrespective of the setup instructions, but bad parrallel hardware is possible too as they are both laptops.

i hate vista with a passion and im also looking forward from XP directly to Win7

hope all works well

General Mach Discussion / Re: Visual mill vs Sprutcam
« on: September 20, 2009, 10:20:43 PM »
VisualMill is the best program i have worked with, in terms of surface finish, and i have worked with, ArtCam, DeskProto, Modela, RC, and quite few others not worth mentioning...

I work with its Rhino based variant called RhinoCam, and a great many cad packages out there that feature built in CAM are in fact sporting VisualMill as a plugin.

I am updating to RhinoCam2 in the next week or so and will be doing some free video tutorials for 3 and 4 axis jewellery applications using VM/RC2.

watch this space :)

thansk for the tips guys, i think coolant is the answer, or a different brand/type of plastic sheet. bout this stuff from local $2 shop, its table place mats i think. dirt cheap, $2 for 6 of them, each one is 550mmx400mm

maybe too cheap ;)

i tried a profile cutter.. not so good.. but a 3 sided pyramid cutter worked ok. my spindle can only go down to 5000rpm which is what i suspect my problem i here.. i need to go slower or add coolant at the tip.

firebird did not work but the plain daisy thing was ok..
