For a delay or dwell in G-Code use code G4.

eg. to insert a delay of 5 sec use the line:

G4  P5


thanks! I have a mate with a cheap chinese machine, his spindle takes a few seconds to come to speed, had to edit his post processor to add this right after his M3. 3 seconds ;)

really? those cheap controllers are basically all supplied with mach3 demo's currently, id say a VERY large part of the mach userbase arrived it from them. Bad move if that is true, will keep a large part of the market locked into Mach3.

There is no real easy transition from Mach3 to Mach4.

Thanks, I see no compelling reason to move then, you know the adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it..." ;)

If it was me... Tweakie.

SOrry to hop on the back of this and going sideways.. but.. presumably there is a "transfer settings" style transition from mach3 to mach4, requiring no further setup, and also presumably if you are using a "standard" monitor 1080p the default screens will fit? Thanks mate, kind of on the fence on hopping over because with 5th axis XYZAB simultaneous is SLOW AF and im hoping the advance on mach4 will allow for faster motion. 

(i changed CV stop angle to 180 which dramatically improved things, can achieve 2000mm/min smoothly, what does changing that achieve? does it reduce accuracy somehow?

Some help from you smart types... I had this same config a few years back, and it was silky smooth, but when i run code now its jerky..

the path that is running is doing a series of XYZA, followed by a B, then repeat.

If I manually jog the machine pressing XYZAB its fast and smooth even at 1200mm rapid.

UC300 motion controller @ 100khz
Mach set to 100KHZ
Look Ahead on 1000 or even 2000 makes no difference.
Constant velocity is set on.

any tips?

thanks, yeap, was in Thailand for a few years doing a thing or two, back in Australia now.

Bought a 5 axis minitech, been getting her up and running in my spare time.

first cur from her yesterday, 60mm across diameter, 8 hours cut.. pathed with deskproto and even at 1200mm/min i was seeing sustained 150mm actual..
going to try recut using my RhinoCam copy and arcfit the path, see if i can sustain a higher feedrate.

uhhhh.. its called a spot gun. it has a motor that generates a vacuum that creates a very high velocity microstream.. so high that if your fingers cross the stream it injects the water under your skin creating instant "blisters".. you were warned...


it depends what you cutting with, usually i use a tapered ballend and there is not need to clean up with more than a soft paint brush, but with pyramid (3 flute) or profile tools you can get compaction in narrow spaces and this si very much dependant on feed/spindle speed, too slow it compacts, too fast it melts back to the surface, in either case you need a reverse vacuum watergun to clean it up.. dangerous when you have parts with fine detail..
