General Mach Discussion / How to size motor's to application
« on: January 14, 2007, 02:51:21 PM »
How do you properly size a stepper motor to an application? Working on converting a Laguna mill, really not quite sure how to size the motors? Was thinking of getting some in 700 oz range. Is there some rules about sizing at all?

All The guys are doing is ::)using a chunk of AL .125 plate and when the tool hits the part it tells the computer that it is there... I didn't think something like this would work but I was wrong ::)

You would hook the frame to one side and the plate to the other side of the input... I have no idea how they stop noise from being a problem.
Hope that helps
Brian

I work for multicam, thats how they do it, except that they put a grounding clip on the spindle because their spindles have ceramic bearings so it would not transfer the signal

At 114 it is just about free :) in the past I have used drives that cost me 10X Not a bad deal!

Never meant to say it was a bad price, theyre prices are extremly good. And i most likely wil end up going with them. Their G203V drives seem quite nice, i might get those.

For a begginer Geckos are your best bet. They will even replace one drive if you fry it. And they handle some seriuos beatting.

Actually there is where my first experience with motion control came, worked on a Practical Cnc table, which the gecko drive failed on, and no they did not replace it for free. Very good people to deal with though and very helpful.

What do you guys think of their pricing on their stepper parts? I thought they were pretty decent and looks like should work pretty good. Any feed back apreciated, and yes im new here!
