General Mach Discussion / Pen plotter, rc servo up and down?
« on: May 11, 2015, 10:54:57 PM »
Hi all,
Got an new project coming, building a pen plotter.
I want to use a RC servo (RC servo used in radio control planes) for Zaxis up and down, how do I connect the RC servo to the breakout board (c10)?
Breakout board Z axis output:  Pulse, DIR, Common
RC servo                             : PWM, +3.3, GND
Do I need a interface between the BOB and the RCservo?

thanks,

Found some answer from other forum:

I re-installed the OS to Win7 Pro 32 bit, now is all working.

General Mach Discussion / MB Asrock AM1B-ITX + C10
« on: November 13, 2014, 11:32:11 PM »
Hi,
I'm replacing my cnc lathe MB to Asrock AM1B-ITX, this board has a LPT port on board but I'm having problem getting this port to talk to C10. Previous MB had no problem is just a little bit old.
I checked the Bios settings in AM1B-ITX, Pararellel port is enabled, Device mode = Normal ( other 3 options = Bi-directional, ECP and EPP 1.9 mode, ECP and EPP 1.7 mode). Reload pc, enter Mach3 jog xyz result = no movement. DC servo are energized/locked.

Anyone experienced this before, and how did you overcome this problem?

thanks,

Updates:
I found out when generate gcode from the cnc lathe computer the results =  4-A.vtp which cause Z to run in the opposite direction. With the same VT file--->generate gcode from another computer nearby the result was ok. The PC nearby is slightly newer with better cpu where as the cnc lathe's pc is slightly older board(ITX form), and another thing with Visual Turn installed in cnc lathe's PC Mach3 turn is interfered, Z axis Dc motor tweaks.

here's the latest video:

I'm back, it is acting weird again. >:(
Here is the code and Visual turn file: open attachment.
The tool tip moves 54.985 in the Z plus direction...ARRRG

compare to Turn2-b.vtp, this file worked out ok.
In Mach3 Turn, is there a MDI so that I can return X and Z to 0,0 co-ordinates instean of using arrow jog?

thanks,

Hi Hood,
Is sorted, wrong post-processor. The one on video was in Inch, it is now in Metric.

thanks

Hi,
I'm encountering some problem with my cnc coverted lathe after replacing the C11G to C10 + C6. The CW, CCw, and spindle start worked fine, but when executing the program generated from Visual Turn the tool tips moves away from the stock and start the cut, not sure why is it doing that?. The offset is exactly the same distance of the cut.

General Mach Discussion / AKZ250 motion card Spindle PWM, how to setup?
« on: September 18, 2014, 01:21:29 PM »
Hi,
I bought a 3 axis cnc machine early this year, the breakout board came with this machine was a AKZ250 motion card. This few days the spindle failed for some reason, the spindle spins but not according to the speed indicated in MDI, eg. M3S1000, so I went on looking for clues and try to solve the problem. From AKZ250 PWM terminal is connected to VFD's AVI terminal, Ground of AKZ250 to VFD's MCM terminal, AKZ250's Output1 to VFD's FWD.

In mach3's setup:

In ports and pin ---> Motor outputs----> Spindle, I was told the pwm is coming from the USB, so no need to tick spindle, is this right?

The up and down arrow does not seem to work, how do I make this to work?

thanks,

General Mach Discussion / 6 axis Robotic with Mach3
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:54:41 AM »
Hi all,
I searched around the forum on 6 axis control with Mach3, not much about 6 axis robotic were found. I'm sure Mach3 can manage to control a 6 axis articulated robot with the right post processor.
Mach3 is based on Fanuc ISO, is this correct?, If so, then I can use a CAM software with a Fanuc robot post processor or some similar Mach3 5 axis post for the robot, or is it not as easy as it sound?
I know EMC2, I have tried it but not used to it.
If someone know more about this field or maybe explain a little bit why mach3 can not do that would be great.

thanks,

I need to optimize the knee mill backlash settings, will do this on Monday.
