General Mach Discussion / Re: Anilam Series 1100 (Step/Dir Help)
« on: December 03, 2011, 02:24:45 PM »
I have the same style drives +-10v and am using Vital systems DSPMC  $1000.00 looking for something cheaper for my next project.
Also have a milltronics project with a build in motion board but it's on a 386 platform, don't know how to use with a pentium4 and Mach.
I with I knew some spotty faced 16 year old geek.

General Mach Discussion / How do I get the newer version of tool path
« on: December 03, 2011, 02:06:47 PM »
Looking at the video of the tool path version 1.71 and newer with the rotating tool, I don't have that. My version of Mach3 is 3.042.020

I'm still testing and when I'm running the wizards in program run screen and then I would like to check the parameters that I set in that wizard, I go to the last wizard and machine machine jumps about 1/4" in rapid and snapped my 1/2" end mill. I don't have a problem with that if that's the way it is( don't go into the wizard screen when running) but I am trying to evaluate the system to put it out in the real world. I tried many wizards including the standard ones included with Mach3 and they did the same.
So far I  am very impressed.

General Mach Discussion / Normal condition ? and a few other questions
« on: December 03, 2011, 10:06:34 AM »
I just turned on my machine and it flashes normal/abnormal condition, if I click on the box it says " g90/g91 state axis are not referred to as normal" everything looks good.
As I'm here, I have a few other questions. I am still putting Mach through it's paces and was wondering if the Mach wizard for text works, I can't get much to happen, it posts about 10 lines of info with some go2/3s with no values.
First, I do understand abs/inc and g54/59 work offsets, so after sending the machine home I can zero my xyz and if I clear my work offsets I don't get zero on my abs, screen, It always shows X .0008" & Y .001" If I go back to my work offsets that value is in the g54.
I take it out so the current work offset read zero, then It puts the values into the inc/rel screen, so i zero the xyz, then it puts the values back into the work offsets and so on and on and on....

Mach Screens / Re: Mach3 mill screen same as lathe screen
« on: November 26, 2011, 03:45:42 PM »
Is your screen a touch screen Hood? and is it available?
next question of topic, you have a few machine on steppers right. I have done one with servo dynamic servos +- 10v  with dspmc and it great, had no success with Fanuc yet. I have an old Hurco knee mill and I would like to try steppers or servos but no dspmc just through the parallel port would do you recommend.
I do have a customer interested in the machine but doesn't want to pay much, and yet I don't want to sell him a machine that he will not be happy with.

General Mach Discussion / Digitizing question
« on: November 25, 2011, 08:19:22 PM »
So if I touch probe digitize using Mach and the wizard does it only give me the xyz data and or a G code of the finished part, and if so, how do I account for the raw stock that has to be removed or do I have to shift the profile down in the Z to the finished size.
The old way of digitizing models would be to scan the part with a sylus of the diameter of the cutter for roughing and keep reducing the sylus diameter and cutter for semi finish then finish.

Mach Screens / Mach3 mill screen same as lathe screen
« on: November 25, 2011, 08:06:50 PM »
Like the title says, has anybody done a lathe screen the same as the mill screen. All the big boys screens are the same, Fanuc, Fagor, mits, etc. lathe or mill they look the same.

Just testing all the functions and have come up with another small problem.
Rectangle pocket, anything less than .5" rad I don't get one.
If I lets say .625 rad and preview I get g03 R.125, .5 corner rad and preview there are no g02/3 just straight lines. 1. corner rad, g code g03/2 R.5 etc.
Regards, Ray.
