General Mach Discussion / Spindle pulley setup?
« on: February 15, 2011, 09:41:49 PM »
Bridgeport style mill with high/low with reverse back gear.
I set pulley#1 25-550rpm and ticked the reverse box,  set pulley #2 560-3800 If pulley#2 in selected in the config, spindle pulleys It says that way all the time as can be seen in settings screen.
When I change from high to low do I have to go into the config, spindle pulleys and change it to #1?
If I am in pulley #2 and in MDI I select s200m03 it doesn't change from #2 to #1 in settings screen, so if I change gear it still thinks it's #2 and goes backwards.

General Mach Discussion / .300" overshoot at 40"/min when using feed hold
« on: February 11, 2011, 08:55:59 PM »
As the title says. Using DSPMC, bridgeport style mill, 30inch/lb servo motors with encoders and tach feedback.
Spoke with Rufi and he said the acc/dec was fixed and hopes to make it the same as Mach3, I'm lost for words...
I can jog at 120inch/min in rapid and stop on a dime. I can press the program stop in program and it stops instantly(it would be nice if I could restart, but it will not ) but in feed hold at 40"/min it overshoots  .300" before it stops and that's not a complex move with lots of data.

I suck at integrating pc's to machine tools , but with over 30 years in the CNC machine tool business I know there is a problem, but with what?
I would love to get some feed back.

General Mach Discussion / Spindle output #5 #6
« on: February 07, 2011, 10:43:52 PM »
First, can I change m03 output #5 and make it #1 output? I did and it worked until I turned Mach3 off, then it defaulted back to #5?

Just setting up my VFD so just jumpering out the spindle forward at the moment. When I send analogue voltage M03 through my DSPMC I get the correct voltage, I then press M05 it cancels my output signal and  I can disconnect the jumper to stop the spindle but I still have the voltage output on my analogue board and it stays there until I reset/Esp. I think this is correct that the control remembers the last speed command?

General Mach Discussion / Mix and match motors

Is it possible to use my 3 Dc servo motors with 10 v analogue and DSPMC unit and a stepper motor with it's own drive for the rotary table.

General Mach Discussion / Brains/VB/Macropump

If I don't know the first thing about Brains, VB, Macro pump or whatever, What should I start to learn, or should I say what is the easyest to learn for an old fart...

General Mach Discussion / Another dumb question
« on: January 23, 2011, 01:46:47 AM »
Ok, if i want to use external switches for cycle start, feed hold, feedrate override, what is the simplest way to do that? I can use up my limited supply of inputs, Do I use the brain thingy, then do I need a modbus doodad.
Go easy on me. Ray.

Friday I was just setting up Mach 3 and setting the enable for the drives but didn't power them up. Checked the enable signal output ok.
Today I turned on the computer reset mach3, still no power to the drives and I get the error above, I can only reset it once.
go into my eng, config, to set up the drives then try to upload an I get the same error, then I have to shut down the computer and start again.
Tried installing Mach3 again, tried copying the DLL file again into Mach3/plugins, still no go
I did try powering the drives for a moment and I did get a Y axis runaway, switched the tach wires and I could power up the drives but still get the same alarm.
Thanks in advance.

General Mach Discussion / Milltronics with 386SX to Mach
« on: April 24, 2010, 12:07:44 AM »
My Milltronics uses Glentek +-10v analog drives and I would like to upgrade to Mach3, the 386 is too old. There are 3 cards in on the motherboard and I think they must be the motion cards built by Milltronics, my question is, do you think they would work if I plugged them into a newer computer and could I address the slots to see what they do and how I could use them with Mach.
