General Mach Discussion / Port 2 not switching to inputs
« on: June 06, 2011, 04:50:10 PM »
My port 2 will not read inputs on pins 2 to 9.
The brake out board  checks out OK the pins at the db24 connector go low and high but mock3 diagnostics all leds are on.
Port 2 is checked for inputs.

If you use the voltage doubler you will have both 72v and 36v outputs.

General Mach Discussion / MPG on print port 2
« on: April 25, 2009, 02:36:34 AM »
I assigned the MPG to the MPG DRO 1 , the axis selector switch and scaling switches to OEMTRIG 1 through 6.  In jog mode MPG when I click on MPG axis ALT A each axis will move when selected.
How do you assign the axis  selector switch to set the proper axis and how to set the 1x ,10x and 100x scaling factors?

General Mach Discussion / Re: What size motors?
« on: April 25, 2009, 12:21:27 AM »
I just got my Sharp mill working on cnc. I used the Keling KL34H2120-60-4B  steppers 1200in.  Direct drive with Ruland couplings only 2 brackets for the x ,z and 3 for the y.
The Sharp is about a third larger than the Bridgeport. If you have ball screws I thank that the 1200in steppers would work just fine. I have not been able to find ball screws for the Sharp yet so am somewhat limited on max speed but it is much faster than hand cranking.  :)

You can use a voltage doubler circuit if your transformer has extra current capacity.  Get some 40V 22000 mf capacitors , remove the +wire from the Bridge rectifier and connect it to one side of the AC transformer lead this will be your 36v positive lead  . Connect the  minus side of the new capacitors to the +side of the old capacitor connect the + terminal of the Bridge Rectifier to the + side of the new capacitors this will be your 72v line.

Thanks that fixed it.   Now I will try to cut the roadrunner.

General Mach Discussion / HOME SWICH NOT REVERSING and LIMIT SWITCH
« on: April 08, 2009, 04:58:17 AM »
Retrofitting a Sharp mill. I have the x-- limit and x home on one switch with a separate switch for x+. The limit override led is on.
When I reference x home, X goes to home and stops but will not back off the switch and the limit switch is triggered. To get off the
switch I have to turn off the X-- input. Then when I home it will home and zero the DRO but not move off the switch.
Same problem on the Y and Z

Hi,

I am converting a Sharp Manual mill to CNC. Just got my licence for Mach3. Hope to have the X and Y running today.
