General Mach Discussion / Re: Custom xml and screen installation
« on: March 06, 2010, 12:40:27 PM »
Hood thanks but what if the screen I am loading is too big for my screen? When I load my Mach turn the selections of auto, manual, diagnostics, etc is off the screen. My toolbar at the top is fully functional and available but the turn screen itself is too large. Make sense? Btw did you see the even more WEE lathe? I actually tagged it "wee" but it linked it in with kid stuff! Maybe they can help me. You do mean to install the xml in the main Mach folder? Same with the G540 xml I would think?

General Mach Discussion / Custom xml and screen installation
« on: March 06, 2010, 09:45:49 AM »
I was given an xml and screenset that is currently working on a lathe conversion like I am trying to attempt. I dont find any instructions on exactly how to load or apply them.  That being said the above mentioned xml was not for the G540 I am installing in my machine. Gecko has a specific xml. How would I install either 1 into the profile I want to use? Thanks

Have you asked Sorin? He teaches the BC classes, he might know why. Here is his forum http://www.cadcamtrainer.com/forums/index.php.

General Mach Discussion / Re: grounding issue? spindle help....
« on: January 07, 2010, 09:05:17 AM »
Now, here's the weird part.  The spindle itself is not connected to the C23 board, but if I have Mach 3 running, and I turn on the spindle by touching the two wires together that would have been connected to the relay, this crashes Mach3.
Where is the spindles ground connected to? the chassis of the controller, machine and or computer? Can you isolate or remove the spindle ground temporarily and test it ungrounded? I have/had these issues with every change or addition of hardware it has caused much late night reading. Guidance might not be the right term for my wisdom. Your problem does sound similar to issues I have had.

General Mach Discussion / Re: How can a CNC machine save time?

I was hooked on the Roomba and the Scooba too. It does save time after you have reached the point you can trust it :<)
On a similar note:

We gave our daughter a Romba - you know - one of those cute little automatic sort of robotic room sweepers that were all over the tv screens several years ago.  Anyway, she called to say she loved it, that it did a good job, but that it did not save her any time when cleaning the house.  She went on to explain that watching the little rodent clean was entertaining and instead of turning it lose and going on to  other pursuits, she turned it on and sat down to watch it.  Said she wasted a lot of time like that!

I have had similar experiences when working with my small Taig cnc mill.  It is fun to watch and listen to as it goes about its programmed chores.  Before I got comfortable with the machine I would watch it for hours.  It is, after all, small and slow.  But in the Taigs defense, it will cut parts that would be next to if not totally impossible to make manually.   The addition of a 4th axis has opened up a new arena of entertainment.  There have been times (after much trial and error) recently when I have actually been comfortable enough with its operation to walk away while its running and machine manual parts on the lathe.

Bob@BobsShop - drawing, proramming, whistling, and cutting.

I believe the current and not the voltage that is the critical factor, maybe somebody else will chime in.

Was that that your first time to read about the debounce settings? That should have been the first thing you tried. I bet it will be next time.
BTW I didnt mean for this to sound as rude as it appears here. I too experienced similar issues and experienced plenty of frustration trying to find out why.

Did you ever just plug it in and try it?
