General Mach Discussion / Re: What does "Allow Wave Files" do?
« on: July 02, 2010, 09:14:05 PM »
I find 1 post from 2006. It does show where to find wav. files but not really how to use them. I also found nothing about it in the Wiki. The reason I ask, when watching some of the youtube videos some peoples steppers are singing more exaggerated than I hear from mine. I know my speeds are high when playing around at times so that wouldnt be the issue. I think they are playing sounds for each axis/change/dir. Something. Just curious. I would like it to yell at me!

Wow, I did 2 different searches this afternoon just prior to my post. I will look again right now.
There was a post yesterday or this morning that explained how to use the speech. .wav files work similaraly. You can probably also find the info on the Wiki.

General Mach Discussion / What does "Allow Wave Files" do?

In the general configuration page there are 2 settings I cant find any info on and no searches turn up anything.
Allow Wave Files
Allow Speech
Any ideas or know how to use them?

General Mach Discussion / Re: RPM and counting ?

Btw debounce will have no effect on the grounding issue if that is what it is. If the debounce interval was too long it would miss the counting.

I have a hobby cnc board and use a spindle sensor. Mine has an exterior power source and works fine. The 1 thing I would try, is to disconnect the fan from the board during the test. I dont trust anything in line during testing. It wont burn up anytime soon. In fact my fans are 110v and I dont use the 24v terminals at all. Worth a try, but you should see something in the diagnostics window and we know your switch is recognizing the  mark since we see the led light up. Do you have a grounding adapter for your 120v plug that removes the ground for a test? I notice you have a metal  case for your hobby cnc board. I cant tell you how many problems that caused in my case. Since Dave recommends a plastic case, he doesnt have the grounding issues we have brought upon ourselves. Do it just for a test if you dont mind. EVERY TIME I brought anything new into the system, (limit switches, probes and spindle index and speed control circuits) it always faulted and wouldnt proceed. It did not trigger a reset. Worth a try and I dont have enough electrical knowledge to explain why.

ArcEye, I had built a profile based on a mill profile accidentally. You have to be very careful when creating a turn profile as it sometimes chooses the mill default even when the turn was highlighted. It actually took me 5 times of selecting to "create profile" with Mach3Turn highlighted each time. My issue with the VB had been due to my reading about a macropump. I think I am over that now anyway. I have learned a bit more about where a macro was to be installed and I think that was part of my issue also. I cant thank you enough and I will try this macro this weekend probably.

I got most of it done. Still a little bit to do. Oddly enough if I used the "create profile" as the mach3turn was highlighted it took at least 5 trys for it to open with the correct profile, most of the time it was mill? Finally got 1 with turn options and modified it. I ended up dumping the Mach and reinstalling fresh. Though on the lathe screen I can only tell what the tool number is, not the position of the carousel. It isnt a problem as my spindle motor is about to change and I am really just trying to dial it all in with Mach. Learning how to set soft limits. I do have switches  at 1 end of both axis. Seem to work well. I did get my touch screen mounted on an articulating arm though! Thanks as always!

I will have to look into it. Could I have dragged and dropped the xml into the wrong profile? Or could I move it over into a turn profile now or have to rebuild thru the turn profile.

Are you saying I built that xml from a milling profile? I sure thought when I assembled it, it was a profile created from Mach3turn? Why did it work just prior to my inserting the toolchanging macro (toolchanger didnt work with M commands but did revolve via the keyboard though now I will have to see what it calls the rotary axis, I would think it would be referred to as A?). If it is as simple as moving the values to a different profile I dont see a problem, but I still cant figure out why it changed. When inserting the new M6Start file, I did delete the old 1 instead of renaming it. That is all I can think of but I wouldnt have thought it jeopardized the jogging control.
