Hood, Start all of your replies  to me like this. "user error?" Funny, How many people are on this earth? About 10 people answer all of my questions. Hood, Hoss, Budman, Chaotic1 and all the others. thanks

Never mind. I finally overcame my resistance to loading file types. What did people have to do before YouTube? Was it that Dewey Decimal System? And then HOPE you found the right book and chapter that week? I now see the whole screen as I should and Winrar seemed to work effortlessly. It isnt just machining that gives me fits! Cant wait to go workout the machine.

swaggs, This is exactly the warm up routine I was contemplating. I had read where people had such routines in their machines. Is there a difference between the zip and rar files? You refer to it as RC1. I downloaded the zip file and installed it in the mach/addons/breakin folder. When I try to open the wizard, it shows the "cam functions addons", under breakin it says "missing set file". If I open that file and select the .set it seems to open that screen but I cant see lower than spinldle speed options. ? The wizard sounds well thought out and the directions/warnings were understandable. Thanks

Hood & Budman, Thanks for the response. Swaggs wizard is exactly what I was looking for. However when I load the screen I cant get to the lower options of the screen. The page down doesnt move the screen. Much like being in the wrong resolution. I see no other options in the set file (like I would know what to do). Mach is in the right size. So I am not sure what I did wrong. I notice there are 2 downloads. 1 is a zip file and the other a .rar. Is there a difference? If yes do I install it differently?

General Mach Discussion / Machine warm up sequence?
« on: August 12, 2010, 08:52:28 PM »
I would like my machine to go thru a set of moves at start up. Preferably I would like it to go from each extreme on each axis, maybe all 3 moving at once. I am not sure if that would be a macro or a gcode or if those are the same in some way. I read all of these terms but the AHA moment is usually when the tool is crashing into the workpiece. So I think I finally figured out my machines limits.
X 11.75 - -.25
Y 3.85 - -.75
Z 14.75 - 0
Those are my ranges in each axis according to my machine coordinates. That is also where my soft limits are set. How would I go about writing a repetitive series of moves in all 3 axis for say a 5 minute time period? Feedrate around 16ipm? Would I run it all the way to the limits as set in the soft liimit and let the decel at the ends take over or run it up to the point of it decelerating and switch directions? I would think run it all the way to the ends of the soft limits as I do have .5 or so more in physical travel. Seems like it would just be beneficial to the machines well being. Any help would be great, I do read about others setting something like this up. Unless it is just loading a gcode a little walk thru would be nice. Thanks

I cant wait to read  up on the probing set up. I would like to increase my accuracy. If I can just hit the stock it will all be good from there. Kidding

Dave, I guess the threat of my emailing Brian got something done! >:D I just downloaded development v.016. then loaded beta 5. At least no macropump errors. I am running a gcode on it right now with no connection to the machine. No errors or faults yet. I did have a problem  getting past any line with a "J" in it at first. I used my MSM Xml and it seems ok. I am sure I will be back even if it is bug free, I will find a way to misunderstand it. Thanks for the work, all of you.

I am not sure if I was getting this error in the other versions if that makes any difference. Anyway it did look like it has a few possibilities. Tell Brian to hurry.

Dave
I appreciate the opportunity to use and or test a new idea and maybe learn something myself.
Do I need to write Brian personally? Just kidding. I am in over my head already. Is there any harm in trying to run it the way it is? It doesnt seem to stop anything , it just makes a noise every 15-30 seconds.

I am  running Xp Pro SP3
AMD Sempron 3100+
1.8 GHz  1.25G Ram
Mach3 R3.043.010 @65000hz
MSM 0.3.1_Beta_4
No other apps running that I know of and all 3 of your brains are enabled.
How would I know if other apps are running and or how do I stop them?
Also I do have the contour shuttle pro plug in enabled and configured.
Let me know of anything else I can provide.
                         Thanks
