Come back til you get it right. We will be here.

What TP is saying is "referencing" isnt necessary. And if only running the part in 1 set up or if no mistakes are made, that is probably alright. However if there was an issue or recovery was needed, I am not sure how he would implement that. Not saying it cant be done, I just dont know how,       yet.

The way I did it prior to having switches on my machines was to move the X & Y axis to their most negative travel and the Z up to the top. Hit ref all home. All machine coordinates will then turn to 0. If your software limits are correct (if you set them up), you can keep your machine pretty accurate, not to the .002 but good for most work.

Your machines directional control will have to be correctly configured prior. Then in the homing/limits configuration window there will be a dialog box asking home negative or not. If sharing a switch as both home and limit, both must be enabled in the software.

You can actually only use 1 pin for all 3-6 (IIRC) axis as Mach knows which axis is in motion and to which direction it is going.

It works quite well actually though I do use 1 pin per axis and the home and limit switch is the same switch. I use software limits to stay within the working confines of the machine. When loading a file, software limits will warn you if you exceed the travel of your machine and on which axis the over travel will occur.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 Decompression Error

I am just going for a guess. Have you uninstalled the previous versions of Mach?

What do you see if you open "C:Mach3\Mach4.tlb"

I cant figure out why it has \Mach4 in the string but then again I know very little about computers. That being said I know more than most of my friends. I probably just have dumb friends, I wonder if that makes you feel smarter?

I am at the point of still waiting on the beach, expecting a cooked in the earth pork product to be served. Are we in Hawaii? Isnt that what a Lua is? ;-)

Buggs, I agree. Not doing your research just cost money in the long run. Dont be mad about the Chinese machine. The truth is most of us wouldnt be experiencing any problem if they didnt make what they do, because we wouldnt have a machine. If you stick with it, you will look back in no time and realize it is mostly about preparation and set up. Oddly those same things are needed on any task that you would be proud to call your own when you are finished.

I am pretty sure they have VFD's with 110v single phase to 220 3 phase. Let me check. I know my VFD goes from single to 3 phase but it is a 220 input.

Spindles are available many different ways. A 220v model could be run from a VFD on 120v.

To know you werent the only one to screw up? That does help. Dont worry for years I was sure that the Youtube machining Gods used different vises and fixtures for their videos, just because they always looked new and unscathed. Who hasnt inadvertently drilled or milled a hole into a vise, clamp or the bed of the machine for that matter?
