Let me elaborate on my calculation just to clarify it in my own head. Each unit on the debounce setting is 40us (40 microseconds). So if you are setting your debounce at 4500. This is 40us x 4500=180,000 microseconds. Or .18 of a second. That is an eternity. How far does your machine travel in this time at full rapid? How delicate are your switches?

geo, The number used for the debounce is a measure of time that Mach must see the signal to be recognized. In your case if you are using a time interval of 4500, your machine is still moving after the initial signal was begun. At high rates of speed this could be detrimental i.e. a crash. The ideal number would be 0. This is not an unobtainable number but you will have to pay attention to wiring detail, grounds and shielding.

Could it have anything to do with the kernel speed selected during set up? I do have this particular profile set up at 45hz. It was done during a test and never reverted. I have since read but dont understand that it is to no advantage in performance. Just havent changed it back.

Brian, though this is very old, what exactly is the driver watchdog looking for? I know how to turn it off in the general config page, but should I? Thanks

I just noticed this too for the very first time. It interrupted the running of the file. I was nowhere near any limits and see no reason for the file to have stopped? Do you know what it does? Btw, I did know where and how to turn it off which is what I did, but the bigger question is, was this a protection measure to help me?

Sorry, making accusations wasn't my intent.

You just made it sound like the parallel port is nearly impossible to get to work. I don't think it's any different than with any external motion device.

I think the bottom line is that a huge number of people that are new to CNC, don't have the expertise that is sometimes needed to get Mach3 to work.

Gerry, How about place this quote in your signature. I know it is a true statement in my case. It has raised its head many times and I am sure it will again in the future too. Sure glad people like you are here to help!

Hood, sorry for the delay. Yes, I am using Dave's screenset (MSM). From my understanding I might be able to associate one homing routine with a specific profile. Though according to Dave, MSM was really designed for 1 profile in Mach. He did give me a way to do it but I havent tried it, mostly because I dont understand how just yet. I recovered my use of both mills again and can live with the single axis homing on both machines and it is still accurate, but the 3 axis homing or maybe even 4 axis homing simultaneously was cool looking. Unfortunately, 1 of my machines has all 3 limit switches sharing the same pin. On that machine when the z would finish (I changed the script to finish z first and then start x & y simultaneously to avoid collisions with a vise or part)  and when x & y started moving upon touching either switch, the last axis wouldnt never complete or initiate. It took me a little while to realize what was happening. I am content at the moment but I will be pursuing the knowledge soon after I get over this last resurrecting! :-) Thanks for asking.

Btw, Dave did address this problem on the forum. Not that I understand it yet but he is trying to explain it to a hobbyist. Sometimes impatience gets the best of me. Sorry Dave!

Not much activity there (161 members). Either everybody is as confused as I am and cant reply to my set of questions. Maybe they think the questions are too basic or there arent that many users. Brett called me last night and tried to walk me thru it but he admittedly stated he wasnt familiar with MSM. In my efforts to repair the profile/screen, I think I have corrupted my Master file. I am curious if a redownload of MSM will fix that issue. I come to the Mach forum for support because there are generally quite a few very helpful people. The section here is labeled CVI MachStdMill, why not try it too. 24 hours with no replies is eternity in this day and age. Gerry, I always appreciate your help and chiming in. At least you know someone is reading the post.
