General Mach Discussion / Motor Problem

You say changing the velocity and accel settings don't do anything. Are they staying set where you moved them? Did you know you can test the accel and velocity settings with the up/down arrows keys on your keyboard prior to saving? Steps per revolution set correctly?

There is a calibration feature in Mach, have you used it?

Video P*r*o*b*i*n*g / Re: Getting started with 3D scanning
« on: October 11, 2011, 09:39:24 AM »
Would it have to with triangulation? Maybe the camera has to a specific distance from the work surface before the scan is made. If the laser was independent, wouldnt you have to account for many angles at once? Moving angles at that. Btw this is just a guess and not an educated one!

Sorry, I forgot which forum I was on. Though there are many here just as helpful, I also use "CncZone" which has the electronic section I was mentioning. If you aren't a member there yet, join up, it is free like here and very helpful in so many ways to a person starting out or very experienced for that matter.

Sure, don't forget there is an electronics section here. There are some great guys there that will help with the encoder or any other electrical/electronics issues. Sometimes you get better help in a specific forum, I just try them all til I get an answer. If I can help I will. That isn't saying much! LOL

Mach3 and G-Rex / Help getting MACH3 working
« on: October 07, 2011, 11:40:33 AM »
Cncdaddy, this is quite normal and anyone setting up a machine for their first, second or third machine build will still need a refresher on a few settings before everything is tuned well. That being said, once you get the basic settings of the pins for each stepper and it's direction of travel set correctly then motor tuning will come into play. I did not use the XML reader to analyze your file. I have never used it personally but I guess I should have. I did download the reader though. During the set up of your port and pins all of your port settings will be "1" unless your have 2 Parallel Ports. That will have to be entered and saved for each axis.
