General Mach Discussion / Re: Program will not run
« on: November 16, 2007, 10:18:05 PM »
Brett,

I do not have it set for single block. But there is something strange, I tried to run programs off line that ran successfully in the past and they will not go past the Z rapid plane. I know that I have something wrong but i cannot see it.

General Mach Discussion / Program will not run
« on: November 16, 2007, 07:24:12 PM »
I have Mach3 running on a Tormach PCNC 1100. I have had good success with it doing engraving up to now. Today when I loaded my file and pushed the start button the cutter went to the Z clearance height and would not move from there. I know that I am doing something wrong but what? I am not running the machine spindle but am using an auxillary spindle. With this sketchy info can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Graham,

Thanks for the code. You cannot believe how much help it was for me.

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / G code for a circle
« on: August 09, 2007, 10:09:21 AM »
Hi,

I have a Tormach 1100 PCNC and BobCadCam v20 software. I know the value of being able to understand G code and not rely fully on a Cam program so that you can scan your code for errors. What I would like to know is, will someone help me with a simple program. I am a complete tyro when it comes to G code. I have drilled a 17/64 hole through a steel part and drilled the same hole 7/16 dia. .280 deep. I now want to use a .250 end mill to finish the counterbore ( I do not have a counterbore tool nor do I have a 7/16 end mill ). The problem is, I do not understand how the I and J codes work. I only know that they have something to do with circles. If someone is willing would they write a sample program for the above counterbore operation .300 deep? It would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

I placed the license CD into the CD reader and followed the instructions. When I checked to see if everything was ok it shows that I have a demo copy. What am I doing wrong? The machine is a Tormach 1100.

    Thank you,

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Help with first part and program
« on: July 25, 2007, 01:17:14 PM »
Hi,

I have generated a half sphere using BobCadCam and posted the g code to the controller of my mill, a Tormach 1100. I am having a difficult time understanding where to start. I have zeroed x and y at centerline where I want to start and zeroed z off the surface at a safe distance. When I press cycle start the table moves to a point way off from the centerline so I know that I am doing something wrong or not doing something right.

If someone out there could give me a step by step synopsis of how to go about setting the offsets and whatever else is necessary to get this thing working I would appreciate it very much. As an aside the thing that I am making is a pocket in a piece of steel to use as a swage block for my blacksmithing hobby.

Thanks in advance,
