Galil / Mitsubishi MR J2 with Heidenhain
« on: October 06, 2012, 09:46:07 AM »
Hi,

I know this is not a Mach3 topic but I know there are a good few Mitsubishi users on this forum!

I have technical question on the Mitsubishi MR J2 drives. If I use the encoder pass through from the CN1A socket what is the spec on the signal. I presume its  square wave. I have a Heidenhain controller that requires a sine wave 8-14 ua signal from the encoders which are incremental Rod456 Heidenhains at the moment but was looking at fitting these MR J2 Mitsubishi drives and using the pass through to the Heidenhain.

Galil / Mitsubishi MR-J2-40A with Galil icm 1900 wiring help needed!
« on: October 28, 2011, 04:54:26 PM »
Hi,

My first go at a Galil set up with Mach. I'm using two Mitsubishi MR-J2-40A  drives and one MR-J2S-70A.

The problem is, although I have the power side done and the encoder cables connected to the motors, I'm struggling to sort the pin outs from the drive to the Galil icm 1900. I have the diagram for the CN1A connector on the drive and the CN1B connector on the drive.

I also have the terminal list for the icm 1900 but not sure quite what goes to what! I've read that it's best to run these drives in torque mode?

Any pointers? Any help would be appreciated!

Galil / Mitsubishi MR-J-40C-S100
« on: June 07, 2011, 02:55:43 AM »
I have managed to aquire a set of 3 Mits MR-J2-40C-S100 drives and 3  HC-MF43K-EU servos.

I'd like to run them with a Galil card but I can't seem to work out what command signal they require.

They only seem to take a manual pulse Generator input on the CN1A terminal or can have a simple set of commands downloaded to them via RS232 or RS484 through the CN3 terminal. Maybe I should have the general purpose A series instead of the C series?

The manual says these are the same spec as the A General purpose series with "added functions" Can I set parameters to change the functions of the pins on the CN1A terminal?

It says in the manual that it will accept a "Differential line driver or open collector system"

Thanks John

Wouldn't it be great if a program like vericut or camplete Truepath could be integrated into Mach to give solid simulation when running a program. Would save having to design a solid sim program from the ground up..

http://www.camplete.com/truepath/collision.html

These programmes are for verifying G code but also allow for complete ground up machine design so you could create an identical model of your own machine in the sim and it would run the sim as the G code was executed in real time!!

The Mazak Matrix control has this and it looks awsome!! They even put the pallet and tool changer in the sim!

Galil / Mitsubishi HF-SE Ac servos and drives.
« on: August 19, 2009, 06:59:45 AM »
Hi, I am looking at the Mitsubishi Ac servos and drives as they have the same mounting holes and flange size as My Fanuc 5M and 10M DC servos so would be an easy replacement.

http://www.machmotion.com/Drives-and-Motors-Mitsubishi-Servo-Drives-&-Motors/c47_49/p135/Mitsubishi-50-in/LB-Class-AC-Servo-Motor-with-Brake-&-Drive/product_info.html

I have a Galil DMC 1880 optima...will I still need to use this with these drives..I know the drives will accept the Step/direction  that Mach 3 puts out and the drives will close the loop but can the Galil be used like a smooth stepper to smooth the pulse train from Mach or will it not be necessary with these drives..?

General Mach Discussion / Automatic tool changer with mach
« on: July 12, 2009, 03:01:26 PM »
Hi I am a complete beginner with Mach and I am used to running Fanuc controlled machine centres.
A friend has just bought a Bridgeport 412 VMC with a 12 pot rotary tool changer.
I noticed that it uses a Fanuc Macro B program to operate the tool changer. I'm pretty sure that relays can be operated from a  macro B program to work air solenoids etc.

My question is how does  Mach 3  work a tool changer and are there any limitations or can any type of tool changer be used.
