Wow, Dave,

An amazing piece of explanation when a "Don't even THINK about editing button script in the beta." would have almost sufficed!! You have a way with words in this technical writing arena, that's a fact. I read the MSM manual cover to cover today, hilighter and red pen in hand, just for entertainment and to lay a foundation for actually putting the screen set into use. I'll skim thru once more then start putting some of the stuff to use, probing and tool setting in particular. It's a marvelous piece of work, and from my experience with the screen set so far, that's equally as amazing. I don't mean to "fawn", but this is great stuff.

No problem, Dave, I'll be out for a while, too.

Now that I think about it, I probably could put my script in an *.m1s file, put it where the other scripts are, C:\Mach3\ScreenSetMacros\MachStdMill.set\scripts, call it whatever dot m1s, then edit the button script to call that. I see how it works now, I think. I'll wait for your official response, however!!

Thanks
Tom

CVI MachStdMill (MSM) / Button Script

Dave,

Can I edit button script for Ref All and put my old button script in? I had some script to move off the switches so I wouldn't have to do it manually to get to the work. I see clicking Operations, Edit Button Script, the editor window opens with #expand <Scripts\All-RefAllHome>. Looking at All_RefAllHome.m1s it looks like I don't want to be fooling with this!! But can I just paste my old button script right on the button?

Here's my current (old) script/

DoButton( 24 )
While IsMoving()
Sleep 10
Wend
Code("G53G1f50Z-.5")
While IsMoving()
Sleep 10
Wend
DoButton( 23 )
While IsMoving()
Sleep 10
Wend
Code("G53G1f50Y-.5")
While IsMoving()
Sleep 10
Wend
DoButton( 22 )
While IsMoving()
Sleep 10
Wend
Code("G53G1f50X.5")
While IsMoving()
Sleep 10
Wend
DoButton( 25 )

DoOEMButton(133)
DoOEMButton(134)
DoOEMButton(135)

Thanks
Tom

My understanding is lots of things needed to be changed to make the new screenset function like v4 will function in the future, hence, the dev version requirement. There seems to be much functionality in the new screenset unavailable in lockdown Mach3.

You are, of course, free to NOT use the dev version nor the screenset!

Reading thru the new screenset documentation, I'm reading it like a novel (!), it's pretty nice. Dave, great work on the docs, amazing, let alone the screenset itself. You really need a PayPal Donate spot somewhere (perhaps you do), some of us would pay for this! I haven't loaded v3.043.010 yet on my actual machine computer, will probably try today, but it works fine on a test computer so far.

Not sure about the compatibility thing. I know there is such a thing after a program is installed, to RUN it in compatibility mode, but I don't know about INSTALLING a driver in compatibility mode. Not sure how to even go about that. Maybe RUN the installer in compatibility mode? The driver installs fine, in Windows it works great on everything I tried. It's just Mach that doesn't work, and only SOME buttons in Mach.

The driver from the ELO web site definately says Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit (I have 32 bit), as well as XP and Vista.

Still summoning the stoopidity to try again!! I'm trying to wait for a reply from ELO, using that as an excuse to wait a bit.

Feels like glass, smooth, no bumps. SAW, right? No reply from ELO yet.

Funny how things like this burrow into your psyche. I'm really fighting the urge to figure this out, but it hoses Mach so bad I'm afraid to try.

I plugged in the monitor USB cable with no ELO driver installed and Windows 7 installed something. I can touch the screen and the arrow moves, but it's like opposite of where I touch the screen. Touch lower left, arrow pops to upper right. Touching near center is right, but the rest seems backwards!! No place to calibrate anything that I can find, nothing about a touch screen in device manager, only Generic PNP Monitor. I always cancelled out of Windows attempt to install anything before and just installed the ELO driver. I'm tempted to install the ELO driver over the Windows driver and try that. But I'm fighting the urge!!

I think mine might be SAW, from your experience, not the best for shop use anyway, but mine is not too prone to coolant drops. ELO calls it IntelliTouch. The monitor I have, as near as I can determine (discontinued in 2006), comes in SAW and 5 wire resistive. I can't find any ref to what in the model/serial numbers tell me. I have an email in to ELO tech support to have them tell me.

No, I don't remember, I bought it on eBay and the guy told me before I bought it, but I've forgotten. I could look it up I suppose, but I'm not sure type of panel makes much difference unless it's one of the two types that seem to require different drivers according to the ELO web site. I'll check if I can get at something on the panel that tells me something I need to know to figure it out. Their documentation is generic so that won't tell me.

It just seems mighty strange to me it works on everything I tried in Windows, and works on some Mach buttons but not others, AND disables the mouse click on said buttons!!! If I somehow convinced myself I absolutely needed a touch screen, I'd look into it more intensly, but I'm not that convinced although these things have a way of creeping into your mind and you think of something and go try again!!

The m3000.m1s ran OK. Disconnecting the mouse didn't fix it.

I'm done. There was more than the script buttons, Spindle Start wouldn't work. My SRO and FRO didn't work, nor did my other buttons with brains, brains reloaded and all!! ELO touch monitor is now just going to live it's life out as a normal monitor. THAT works great. I'll have to live with a mouse in the chip creation area. After this experience I'll not be easily convinced to even try the driver again.

I'll go try unplugging the mouse, but every time I try something I have to install the driver again!! One thing for sure, if it's the mouse or the touch screen, the mouse wins. It's not like I don't have a KB and mouse on my setup, just built the touch panel into my box because it was available and had the ability to be mounted inside a box like this.

The thing I really don't understand is with the touchpanel driver active, I can't even CLICK script buttons with the mouse!! That is just too wierd!

Back in a bit.
