SmoothStepper USB / Re: ESS HOMING ISSUE
« on: April 14, 2012, 11:49:57 AM »
Maybe search the forum on Warp9 for plugin version 10da2 and 10da3. I don't know why they don't post the plugin revs on the site, but they don't.

You might also try Jeff Birts configuration doc here. http://www.soigeneris.com/Ethernet_SmoothStepper-details.aspx

I'm afraid I don't know what else to say as I have no experience with slaved axes.

Maybe post up what plugin version and Mach version. I don't have any slave axes, but my 4 axis BP clone homes just fine with the ESS. Someone will be able to offer assistance, but SS and Mach versions often help.

Thanks for the update, Wes. Hope things go well for you and things look up!!

SmoothStepper USB / Re: SS and Laptop

I'm thinking it should work! Dell bloatware might be something of an issue, but if it's a fast computer, even THAT shouldn't bother too much. And it's not too much trouble to go thru and get rid of a lot of that.

There may be some networking advantages to Windows 7 Pro, but nothing worth worrying about for your machine. Home Premium should be fine, mine runs Home Premium. Desktop, but still.

You'll likely get 64 bit Windows, indicated by 6 gigs of RAM, but with the SS, no problem. You won't be able to run on a parallel port is all.

Go for it. OH, and if you don't already have the SS, get an Ethernet SmoothStepper. Wonderful, just wonderful 8)

Been a couple weeks again, have you started selling this and if so, how much and what's included in the original release? Plans for more wizards still in the works?

The plugin is linked on the CNC4PC site, as linked in my post above. Not sure why they don't include it, or at least a little slip of paper with the link to download. There is a newer plugin, according to Greg, but he told me on the Warp9 forum that it REQUIRES Mach v057 and won't run without 057. I personally am having jog issues after an M6 with Mach 057, so can't use it.

No idea why, if these are actually for sale, the plugin isn't on the Warp9 site. So you bought an ESS and have no software or a hint where to get it? Huh...........

348
So if the plan was screenset and IPS wizards or whatever they are, will these two run separately from one another? In other words, will I be able to buy the IPS Wizard part without the screenset?

349
Whatever happened here? I got lost. New to lathe and was looking for better screenset or wizards. Found this and it appears to have just stopped after DaOne said it was ready but he had issues with support. Is that the end of it?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Lathe - set max RPM for CSS?

With this resurrected, perhaps Andrew will shot it to Brian and they will fix it!! Wouldn't that be something? CSS is one of CNC lathe's nicest things. Threading and CSS are what make a CNC lathe a wonderful thing!!
