Hi,

The cost Vs functionality has to come in here !
Mach is an awesome piece of software, even when compared to the BIG plyers like Siemens, Fanuc, Hiedenhein etc, but then do the comparison again taking the cost into account.

I could nit pick all day too, but I'm too busy getting the best from Mach and making great parts ;-)

Hi A

Hi Arturo,

I need to wire to the pokeys terminals so the Emulators ยป M27 and M28 look like the ticket :-)

I guess I will have to cut one end of the ribon cabe to wire into my pokeys 66T terminals?

Derek,

If you want to use +24vdc logic on your parallel port, you may consider the C31:http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=245. If you need to use +24vdc logic on the pokeys, we got a couple of boards that handle +24vdc logic for the pokeys: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/index.php?cPath=54.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further assistance.

Thanks,

Arturo Duncan

General Mach Discussion / Re: Hologram's in a cube
« on: September 25, 2010, 06:03:21 PM »
Hi ,

As far as I know, a focused laser is used - most likely a YAG laser as a CO2 would just burn the surface.

The image is a 3D point cloud. ( not a true hologram)
The laser scans in X and Y but also dynamically focuses the laser for each point i.e the depth in the z plane.

Because the laser beam is focused, the power density exceeded the damage threshold of the material (acrylic?) only at the "point in space" and no where else in the material along the beam path.

Thats to the best of my limited understanding anyway ;D

Hi Hood,

Afraid not, its a mitsubushi FX, so descrete IO is the only way. I also want to use the pokeys for analogue overide for feed and spindle rpm etc. and maybe MPGs if that works now.
PLC was a freebee.

Does your PLC  have Modbus? If it does then no need for all the wires to PoKeys, just have them to the PLC, the ladder will do the work and signals sent to Mach via Modbus.

General Mach Discussion / Opto Isolator board

Hi All,

I'm at last working on getting a Duplomatic turret working and fitted to my Colchester CNC lathe.

I'll be using a PLC to handle the turret with a simple 6 wire handshake to Mach via a Pokeys I/O board.
4 BCD for tool number
2 back to mach for tool in position and error (maybe 1 or 2 more I/O depending on how things go), but is is a basic system using the KISS principle ;D

So the question is, I'm looking for an opto isolator board to go between the 5vTTL (3.3v) of Pokeys and the 24v of the PLC
I've see the PMDX-105 (I'll need 2 of these) but are there any other options? I could do a DIY, but rather buy something off the shelf to speed things along.

Hi,

You are calling a G43 H* after the tool chage request M06 ??

i.e
T1 M06
G43 H1

Also, what data is displayed in the tool table for the tools you are using?

General Mach Discussion / Re: F for feedrate
« on: September 05, 2010, 11:21:45 AM »
I understand it as the feed rate is of the TOOL across the WORK (the axis speeds are calculated to give the correct tool feed rate in the desired direction)
Altering the feedrate of 1 axis (in anything other than a move perpendicular to an axis) would alter the tool direction.

General Mach Discussion / Re: High speed spindle recommendations

Hi Hood,

I was looking at using a router...
Not sure if the spindle bearings are up to it, but maybe possible to retrofit an additional bearing??.

Bosch do a nice little palm router 600W about 30k RPM

Just an idea????

CVI MachStdMill (MSM) / Re: TLO Woes
« on: August 12, 2010, 05:32:34 PM »
Hi Eric,

I had a similar problem with the standard screenset and Mach version.

the problem appeared if the tool change call AND TLO call was on the same line.

I tested this and it was repeatable fault, if the coses were on one line.
So I always write the code like this

T1 M06
G43 L1

(Also I can't see where you call the actual TLO, I think there should be T1 M06 G43 L1 ( to tell mach which offset to use)
