General Mach Discussion / Re: z height

Hi, I think what you need to do is put 45 in the Z DRO, which tells the machine that the tool is now 45mm above zero.
If you want to make things really easy for yourself, get a copy of the 2010 screen set by Ger21 all the tool change routines are built in, best few pounds you will ever spend!!

Are you putting the zipped folder into Mach? You should unzip the folder and just put the Lic.dat file into your Mach folder.

Hi Mihaly,
Sounds to me as if your motors are stalling, try reducing motor speed, and or, accel in motor tuning, reduce by say 50% give it a try, if it works OK try increasing speed gradually until it stalls again and then reduce a couple of percent until they run reliably.
Remember reliability is the goal not top speed!!
Good Luck

Hi screwhead,
by far the easiest method I have found is to use Ger21's 2010 screen set, once the touch pads are set up as per the instructions it does it all for you,
best few pounds I ever spent.

no more keeping tool tables or measuring tool offsets, all done for you!

Hi SlikChit,
There is no need to use lazycam, Aspire will output G code straight to Mach3, just choose the post processor from the drop down list when you save your Aspire file, I use Vcarve Pro and it works brilliantly.
Keep plugging away, it will all come together soon.

FAQs / Re: New to CNC

Hi,
I am assuming that your machine does not have an actual E stop switch, go to Config, Ports & Pins, Input signals and scroll down to Estop then tick active low,
save and exit, should do it.
Cheers

General Mach Discussion / Re: Machine Not Moving Off Reference Switch

Hi Richard,
Just cured a similar problem on my machine, make sure that you are using shielded cable and it is
securely connected to ground at the control box end only.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I have ripped out all the switch wiring
and have relaced all cables with new screened cable (old cable was screened)
and all seems to be working OK. Don't know if there was a bad connection on the screen
and picking up interferance or what, but seems OK now.
Thanks again
Ron

Hi,
I have swapped the switch and upped the debounce, still the same result.
Here is the full story, when I built the machine I had the same problem and I got round it by
having each switch on a separate input,  that works perfectly, that left me 2 inputs, 1 for E stop and 1 for my probe
The other day when I went to run a job I noticed that the green light on the probe input was on all the time,
when I checked it out I found that there was no voltage on the bob pin, should be 5 volts, when not connected to anything.
I have Emailed Roy at DIYCNC, and am waiting for a reply. So that means I have no probe, so I thought give it another go
and see if I could put the switches in series but no go. Every time it hits the second switch it will not back off, I have put the Z axis
on its own input with Y and X in series on another input Z homes and backs off, Y homes and backs off, X homes and locks up, always the second switch!!
If any one has any ideas I am all ears!!!

Thanks
Ron
