PoKeys / Re: What do I need for machine control ?
« on: September 03, 2012, 02:30:50 AM »
Hi, Hans

Probably you meant PoKeys56E. If you are looking for a compact solution, I would suggest going for the PoKeys56U. It is among others USB-powered external motion controller that works beautifully with Mach3 plugin.
You will need:
- Mach3 development version (latest available version online)
- PoKeys Mach3 plugin (available at poscope.com under downloads for PoKeys56U device)
- PoKeys56U device with Pulse engine (you will receive an activation code for this)
- 3x motor drivers ('power' interface between STEP/DIR signals and your stepper motors) with appropriate power supply
- Emergency stop button
These are optional:
- Limit+, limit-, home switches for each axis

You can get all electronics needed at poscope.com
- PoKeys56U: http://www.poscope.com/pokeys56u
- Motor drivers 3pack: http://www.poscope.com/postep25
- Power supply: http://www.poscope.com/popower24

The charge pump output is usually used for safety - if the computer encounters an error and Mach3 stops working correctly, the power electronics (that supports charge pump input) is automatically disabled. This prevents the machine to move at startup, at reset or if any other program starts using LPT port. It is similar in PoKeys56 devices - this can be used to disable power electronics when Mach3 shuts down.
There are only a few dedicated pins for supporting the pulse engine (motion controller). You can use the other for various inputs or outputs.

Then, please contact me directly at matevz@poscope.com and describe your situation. This forum is for Mach3 users.

Hi, Albert

I just checked - writing to PoNET keyboard is limited to single coil commands.

If you are using Mach3, then just use the PoKeys plugin which is much better interface between Mach3 and PoKeys56E than Modbus.

Did you enable writing to this address in the PoKeys configuration?

Albert, where are you from? It may be better if you write in your mother language...

PoKeys56E is not a PLC.

Are you using Modbus?

How is this related to Mach3 and PoKeys plugin?

Hello, Albert

If you need help, you should explain your configuration in a way that we can understand what you mean.

What PLC?
What write function multiple LEDs?
What 1426 address?

I can tell if you can be more clear.

It's hard for me to decode your writing if you keep substituting I with a.

Do you have MPGs handled directly by PoKeys or do you have MPG only connected to PoKeys and Mach3 does the handling?

PoKeys / Re: NEW: 'Official' PoKeys Mach3 Plugin - 'beta' version v0.01

Hi, Mike

This bug unfortunately slipped through - please don't use either pins 27 or 30 for mapping. We will fix that in the next release.
