PoKeys / Re: PoKeys 55 and Mach plugin issue
« on: November 21, 2012, 12:28:39 AM »
What is the PoKeys55 serial number?
Try to clear settings in the device in PoKeys SW by connecting to the device and clicking Device -> Clear settings in device.

Here is the circuitry that can be used to protect the PoKeys inputs if the device is used in (electrically) noise environments.

PoKeys / Re: NEW: 'Official' PoKeys Mach3 Plugin - 'alpha' version v0.01
« on: November 20, 2012, 01:45:17 AM »
Hi, Milan

We are working on supporting the LCD on PoKeys55. PoKeys56 series use a new buffered LCD mode, which is used in Mach3 plugin to improve speed.

Just assign any PoKeys input pin to Mach3 IO input pin (1 to 100) in the PoKeys configuration dialog.
Then, in VB script, read the Mach3 input pin to get the value.

PoKeys / Re: Can the Pokeys PWM outputs be used to emulate a DAC?
« on: November 16, 2012, 01:59:20 AM »
Apparently I missed this topic, so this is coming a little bit late...

Yes, you can use PWM outputs with an appropriate RC low-pass filter to simulate analog inputs. You can even try to hook up a digital meter directly to PWM outputs as some of the meters already have a low-pass filtering built-in.

You can assign a value of the analog input to an unused Mach3 DRO register and use the same register as the duty cycle of the selected PWM output.

Hi, Derek

Please take a look at the ' PoKeys Pulse Engine and Mach3 plugin manual (20.6.2012) ' available at poscope.com. In the end of the document, there is a section 'Reading and writing of IO from VB script' that I think will answer your question and solve your problem.

PoKeys / Re: Pokeys56 Pulse Engine and 4th Axis
« on: November 15, 2012, 04:39:03 AM »
Hi, Lehane

PoKeys supports only 3-axes at the moment and you can not assign additional pins for 'A' axis. The solution (pulse engine upgrade) is coming soon.

PoKeys / Re: New Pokeys plugin, analog signal mapped too?

Hi, Wes

Please check whether the pin is setup as analog input in the plugin configuration.

This information will be included in the PoKeys manual in two weeks time.
Generally, it is preferred to include protection of power and signal inputs and outputs in noisy environments.

The voltage reference is present in the low-drop voltage regulator on the board, which is LD1117 (datasheet says that its temperature stability is typically around 0.5%, while it should be generally 1% accurate at 25 °C and 2% in all temperature range).

Regarding the protection - I would suggest a zener or suppressor diode between voltage divider and PoKeys, and a small choke would make it even better.
However, you should pay attention also to the power supply - suppressor and choke are mandatory here.
Generally, anything that goes in or out of PoKeys (except the network cable) must be protected by suppressor (or zener).
