PoKeys / Re: Index Homing pins
« on: April 04, 2016, 01:20:10 AM »
Unfortunately, this combination is not possible.

We are looking for an option to move the fast encoder index inputs to other pins, but we will have to sacrifice some other feature (most probably the LCD display support).

PoKeys / Re: Mach3, Pokeys57CNC, problems with Spindel Index.

Hi, GerdS

The spindle frequency measurement is not yet supported in Mach3 plugin - the frequency must be measured by the device itself and data forwarded to Mach3 to display. We will check how this can be added to the plugin.

Regarding MPGs - are you using the option 'Let PoKeys handle MPG jogging'? If this is enabled, the jogging operations are directly controlled and executed by the PoKeys device. Unfortunately, not all Mach3 functions are supported in this mode. To use all functions disable this option - you will use the Mach3's native MPG support, which has it drawbacks (much improved in Mach4).

The stop button stopped the machine immediately and Mach3 had issues with lost steps. I must check whether the graceful stop command has been implemented in the plugin.

Hi, Jan

Let's start with the basics - what are the exact versions of Mach4, Mach4 plugin, PoKeys software and PoKeys firmware? 'Latest' is very relative and doesn't really tell much to our team.
Also, please open Diagnostic window for the PoKeys plugin - there is a progress bar at the bottom of the dialog - what values does it display as you jog or home the machine?

Make sure that you have the latest plugin (released two days ago), threading option should be available directly in the spindle settings page. I must point out that this feature is in testing/validation phase currently.

PoKeys / Re: PoKeys57CNC and Mach3 Softlimits

This is how soft limits are implemented in PoKeys device. In Mach4, soft limits are taken over by Mach4 and the axes stop spot on.

If you are getting this message, the message is coming from Mach3. Check your settings first (and machine coordinates!).

The relays on the PoKeys57CNC are not mapped to any specific PoKeys pin. Instead, the relays are accessible as a part of the PoKeys Pulse engine ('PoKeys <serial> PE' device in Mach4).

Hi, Ron

The IDC connectors are very easy to obtain and are now also available for purchase directly from PoLabs webstore.

The spindle encoder should use the 'Ultra-fast encoder' feature, avaialble on pins 8,12,13.
Home and limit switches can be connected to any free pin of the PoKeys device.
For the 10V output, we suggest to use one of the PWM outputs, an RC filter and an operation amplifier to amplify the voltage from 3.3V to 10V.

PoKeys / Re: Homing Axis Using Encoder Index Pulse

Hi, Jim

Homing using encoder index pulse is not yet supported, but we are looking into implementing it soon.

All configuration is done in PoKeys plugin for Mach4.
The 0-10V output is driven as PWM output on pin 17 - Configure PWM frequency of 10 kHz in the plugin settings, then select pin 17 as the spindle speed output (all settings are found under the Misc.. tab).
