General Mach Discussion / need help choosing limit switches
« on: February 19, 2009, 10:57:24 AM »
Anyone care to recommend a specific good quality limit switch to use on a Bridgeport type mill?  I don't care to pay a few extra bucks for good quality and reliability.  It seems most of you recommend optical type, but the choices seem endless.  I would greatly appreciate some guidance.

Thanks,
Dave

O.K. it's fixed!!!!  The active low needs checked for the step pulse in motor outputs.  Now I can set the step pulse at 20,000 steps like it should be and the DRO is accurate and it runs 75 in/min.
Thanks,
Dave

I'm away from my machine right now, so I can't get the files.  20,000 is what I started with, but the motor would not move at all until I incresed to 200,000.

Step motors size 34, 1 rev of motor = .1 inch travel. Sorry I don't know what xml is.
Thanks,
Dave

I have to enter 20,000,000 pulses per inch to get my bed movement to match the on screen display.  Which limits my speed to .75 in. per min.  Gecko thinks it must be a problem in MACH3.  What to do????
Thanks,
Dave

General Mach Discussion / Re: 3 pin drive will it work

The CRT is out and they don't make a replacement,it is powered by Centroid ,but adapted to Trionics panel. It also uses a DRO from scales to check its movement.
Thanks,
Dave

It is a 3 motor mill,Trionics Handyman.  It is a 1988 era mill with Centroid electronics and MAE hybrid stepper motors?
My Centroid electronics contain 1 board labeled   CPU3 REV 870830, one labeled HE 512C00604-001 Rev A, and three labeled Flux Capacitor Drive Rev 870312.
The motors are MAE  HY  200-3450-700, which they appear to make something similar still today.
All of this is controlled with the input controls next to the display via 3 wires.
Thanks,
Dave

My control which I am trying to replace with MACH3 only uses 3 pins on the printer port 2,3,and7.  Will MACH3 work with this setup?
Thanks,
Dave
