General Mach Discussion / Lost my orientation...
« on: November 15, 2006, 07:51:21 AM »
Hi,I have a need to re-establish how Mach3 effects my mills perspective of negative and positive quadrants(e.g.-which actual direction 'negative X' ,etc. will go). I recall seeing a function for this many moons ago on Mach2 but I can't seem to find it in Mach3.-Thanks,Keith

General Mach Discussion / 3d Digitizing PlugIn version 3.0
« on: October 08, 2006, 01:54:53 PM »
What is this 'plug in'? I'm just getting around to experimenting with a probe. Seems like it might be something I want. Does it work with the 'digitizing wizard' in 'Wizards'(which I can't make heads or tails of). Any other tutorials on using a probe would be nice. Info is slim out there.-Keith

LazyCam (Beta) / Gerber .GPX vs .GPI,import
« on: July 26, 2006, 04:27:56 PM »
I think it's okay to post this question here since it involves LCam ; I use Eagle to lay out PCBs and thought it might be nice to see what happens in importing a gerber file that Eagle's CAM generates and when I went to import into LCam,I realize that the supported Gerber in LCam,is a .GPX. Eagle is putting out ,GPI.
Anyone use Eagle and LCam and have had success. Anytips concerning this application using Eagle would be appreciated.-Keith

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 Error codes
« on: July 12, 2006, 01:30:34 PM »
I just installed the latest version of Mach3 over my existing older version of 3 so I could get at Lcam through Mach. Each time I call the program up,I get an error code(first time it was artcode:9991 and second time was 904,I believe). Then I'm prompted for recovery. If I click 'Yes' it doesn't do anything but blink that warning,if I click 'No' ,it closes Mach3 and then when I retry opening mach3(mill this is) it opens and functions. Whatdaya think?-Keith

LazyCam (Beta) / Further Video
« on: July 11, 2006, 01:05:55 PM »
Hi,I finally got some time to start using Lcam and since it's integral to any newer Mach3 downloads and I do often import .DXFs,I've got to dedicate some time to it. At first glance/experimentation,it looks straight forward and efficient and is a welcome addition. I'm glad I started things when the primary video tutorial was available ; that always helps. I guess you've done away with having to verify a function by a second 'click' to the upper function button shown in the video. So a straight .DXF import works flawlessly but before I really understood this function,I was just 'tooling'; around the screen, having imported some simple shape I had at hand, and noticed I had pulled up a screen for 'pocketing' functions. Today, I drew a few nested circles and wanted to try a controlled(meaning a limited designation of where the beginning and end of the pocket resides) pocket and now I can't seem to find the 'pocketing window'. If you could point me to that,I can probably make sense of it but one more video that touches on the subject of pocketing would sure make this a great application for my purposes. Thanks,Keith

General Mach Discussion / Circular pocket shout out
« on: June 12, 2006, 03:08:25 PM »
Not sure why but after a few different attempts and different sizes, the 'circular pocket' wizard seems to construct a small 'flat' at the extreme 'Y' positions (it may be doing this throughout the spiral but not sure. Looking at the code all looks well but I wonder if it is because the 'R' command is used in place of a g interpolation; I had heard that the 'R' command works out better for arcs than it does for complete 360 degree moves but I can't substantiate that. Regular circles work fine on my machine. Also,an 'H' command comes up,I'm unfamiliar with this command.-Keith

General Mach Discussion / Scaling
« on: June 08, 2006, 06:25:19 PM »
Hi,I've never used scaling in Maach3 and I'm a little burnt out at the moment so ; 1+scale is 100%.Let's say I want to shave .003" x and y on a rectangle with fillet'ed corners...I want it all down by that... so do I figure out the percentage that .003" is of one of the lengths of the rectangle and then subtract that from 100% and scale the scale number down accordingly?-Keith

General Mach Discussion / Reversing trajectory of .DXF conversion
« on: June 07, 2006, 01:37:16 PM »
Hi,is there a simple way to reverse the direction of the cut that Mach3 chooses when it converts a .dxf to G-code(like for a clean up cut).Right now I go in and reverse the order by editing the G-code which is fine but a bit tedious.-Keith

General Mach Discussion / Jog continuous/incremental button

Is there a way ,using a keyboard emulator, to make the jog continuous/incremental button a switch function? Only possible with a macro? OEM switch closure?-Keith
