General Mach Discussion / Re: Prices for one-on-one phone tech support.

I'll hold on making a vote on what would be liked/requested actually.  Reason being (for sake of clarity only) that there are SOOO many systems, machines, potential operating systems that CAN be used with MACH.

In the end for my own using MACH as yet, if I have a question, I'll use the forums for it....no question you don't know the answer to is not a dumb question if you didn't atleast try to look it up (I'm sure there's a quote for similar, but I have belief you all get the point):P

SmoothStepper USB / Re: SmoothStepper and laptop without ground....
« on: November 24, 2008, 01:43:01 AM »
A good bet would be to ask the makers of the controller box whether it would be indeed safe for the laptop or not.  Judging only by their pictures, it does appear that it's plugin for power APPEARS to have grounding, but as I don't have that sytem in my hands to physically tear apart and look at it, I cannot say whether they have the internals wired for an application like this or not.

An approach I would use in a case like this, would be to build an add-in board with extra diodes, and a few extra chips to ensure that THEY would get fried instead of the laptop if something went horribly wrong...if someone else happens to have a schematic in this case, please feel free to add that to this thread too...many may benefit from it (I would, but don't presently have it drawn out right now)

FAQs / Re: System Requirements
« on: November 18, 2008, 04:38:13 AM »
From my understanding of DUOCore, unless the program is basically expecting DUAL Processors (or is made to switch from task to task FAST in Windows), it really don't matter for now.   Best bet is run tests without dropping lower than to potentially break a cutter because of Windows hiccups....as of about a week ago, I have problems with getting the diagnostic screen even showing the interrupt times and all, and I'm NOT USING a CNC controller or machine as yet either...

My advise is this, do not ask just 1 single person on anything, TEST the opinions/answers, and if have doubts on that, then be all the more specific...I'm not running a machine as yet myself, but believe me, I'm going to be using foam or scrap junk to test and check here first, THEN if things get screwed-up, then all the loss I'm looking at is the time to make a block of foam AND my time to watch what happens (IE, even using wood, if not careful, a cutter CAN potentially be damaged...and/or yourself).

TO ADMIN BTY:

New, yes. At posting time? (TO BE VERIFIED and iff allowed to stand as is OR not, fair enough.

Though new to the forums, I see no reason why the option should not be added....maby instead of the size of what needs to be done at times, potentially an option?

Maby let the command have some lieniency to aide in compatibility would make Mach a new controlling program for the potential future....maby add the option with it's defaults for many controllers at the most (AM GUESSING as I have limited experience with CNC as yet except with using it for sharpening coldsaw blades...a bit less than a year with a company I worked for before too, BUT, maby a good option I think)

All up to the designer to make the choice, but from what I've seen so far, he's got a pretty-good shoe to fill myself.  (no offence either, but even before I ran the program here, I looked at the updates and all)

General Mach Discussion / Re: Lockdown Ver 3.042.018

AS I am a new member at this time, was wondering if you figured the problem out yet or not.

I myself have tried running Mach2&3 (trials for now), and have encountered the very similar circumstances while using multiple displays, but not a single display.

Still, wondering if this particular problems been figured out/fixed/whatnot is all.
