General Mach Discussion / Re: Tangential control manualy?
« on: April 23, 2008, 09:05:01 PM »
Take a look at this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw26uiCQHwA

I'm wondering if I put a line laser on the saw head and position the blade cut direction manually, can I get mach3 to follow the cutting direction of the blade when jogging?

Some times some quick cuts need to be made and programming is extra work.

Is it possible in Mach3 to position the A axis in tangential control mode and then when you jog the machine will follow the path of the A axis position?

Thanks

Dennis

Brains Development / Pport inputs in binary with Brains?
« on: April 22, 2008, 10:26:03 PM »
Any one use brains to read four  inputs as binary from a Pport and decoding it to act as 10 or so inputs?

I'm just thinking of using the Pport instead of adding a PLC.

Did you check to see if the there is output on the pin when active with a volt meter?

You will need something like this:

the forward rev is cc/ccw

The motors are steppers and as for voltage and amps start at 35V and 3 amps and keep adding till the drive or motor start to get warm then back off a little,  thats how I do it.

The drive looks like a Parker stepper drive if you go to the parker site and look through the pictures of old manuals you might find the same one.  The drive has cc/ccw input you can use that input with step/dir with a little logic.

There is also dynamotion controllers that will run analogue drives in real time closed loop with Mach3:

I use the Mach2 post and works perfect every time just need to delete the G43 line.

You have regular quadrature encoders that are the same standard as today.

You mean the Galil will take a resolver signal?  The only thing that can go back to Mach3 is a quadrature encoder pulse but is only use to keep track of position not a real time closed loop servo system the Galil card closes the loop between it self and the resolvers/ motors.
