ziga,

what size motors do you have what voltage are you running to the drives, what speed are you running the router what type of drive system do you have?

I have a 24x24 router with ~400 oz motors with 4 amp 55v drives at 10uS direct drive 2 turn ballscrews and it runs over 400 IPM with out losing a single step with 10,000 line code.

The quill must be up all the way on this machine.   It's made kind of like  a J head Bridgeport but bigger.

Hood,

I was not planing from the beginning to use the original changer because it was a very complex and scary contraption.  I took it off and just kept the carousel.   If a need comes up for a tool changer I will build one for like 5-6 tools,  have the spindle got to the top tool change position the carousel with the tools swing under the spindle then raise up into the taper draw bar grab the tool and the carousel swings away.

Here is a link to the thread on the zone of the BTC mill that I just finished:

The viper drives are running pretty good.  Need to sort out some noise on the VFD speed control wire that make the rpm go up and down a little while cutting.  I get 125 IPM rapids with 91v to the drives, the motors are 140v I'm starting low and if I need the speed latter i'll get a different transformer for the power supply.

You can do what this person did for the turret,  he is using a cubloc controller to control the turret through Mach3:

Use a PCI videos card and most likely your problems will stop.   It makes big difference if you run on board video,  at least the three computers I set up run near perfect with a PCI or AGP video card.

This is the cool thing about Mach3 is you can add anything you can think of to it!  I'm no programmer but managed to get Mach3 to do some very trick things for me that no other cnc software would with the same ease.

Are using the onboard video card?

The simple answer is no.  There is a LOT more to controlling a more powerful motor then just bigger fets.
Read this thread and you will get a better idea of what is involved in controlling a simple DC motor as a servo:
