The switches will need a 5v supply.   Did you sent the correct pin numbers in the setup screen?   Do any of the led's in the Diagnostic screen change state when you push a switch?

You can start by connecting them bipolar half winding.  Take the A and A# on the motor and connector the same terminals on the drives and do the same with the B and B#.
