Broken or missing ground wire, pc and machine not grounded together, or power supply failing on machine.  All candidates for random steps.

The tool table is in the config menu

If you are out by .02mm in a 10mm movement then you are out 0.1 in 50mm movement, its not hard to set the steps/per if you know all the data which by the look of it you do.

1600 steps per rev of ballscrew at 5mm pitch would be 320 steps per mm for direct drive on the ballscrew

If its not direct drive the the value needs adjusting by the ratio.

I have done a bit of digging on this one, there is a feature/bug/action where if you cancel/stop/interrupt a g-code file loading it turns the watchdog on.

Could this be the cause?

The watchdog setting is stored in your profiles xml file so locking it would be a problem.

I have no memory of a VB call to turn the watchdog on or off so it must be a low level command in a plug in that is doing it.

Or it could be memory corruption.

All very strange though if its random.

Sounds like the drawbar needs adjusting, if it has an open switch it could be you set it to trigger sooner and start a move on the signal.

Only time I have seen this is when Mach is waiting for the spindle to reach speed, so make sure feed back is working or if you do not have feedback turn off closed loop and feedback.

Or it could be none of this.

Mach4 Lathe uses T0101 NOT T1 M6

You have to add the threading module to do that.
