General Mach Discussion / Re: Lose the contact trigger intermittently

The next time this happens you need to check the diagnostic leds to see if the switch is signalling the control, it could just be a bad connection or a broken wire in the cable.

General Mach Discussion / Re: how to connect/wire a rotary encoder?

The PMDX-122 has no input for a high speed encoder, you are best to put a single pulse input from a hall effect sensor and set the index input active.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Z axis inconsistent movement

This may not be useful information but some time back we had a similar problem to this and it turned out to be this:-

The machine was setup with 10 microsteps and low power standby, when the axis stopped moving it instantly went into low power mode and the motor snapped to the nearest full step. on restarting the motor continued from the full step point, we killed the power down mode and everything went back to working properly.

You can put a pokeys on and check signals from that with the plugin.

Try setting the Home off in homing and limits or go to section 4.5.4 of the Mach3 installation guide.

Power supply issues or broken ground is in the top 10 for this one

Try taking the G1 out of the G31 lines, G31 is a feed command and may not like the G1 on the line

General Mach Discussion / Re: Auto Z Probing retract height
« on: September 06, 2020, 04:57:53 PM »
Do you have a height offset active, you may need a G49 to cancel it.

Check 'include TLO in G31' in general config.

Or

Are you reading the correct var number, 2002 for Z axis.

What is the pitch of the screws and the ratio of the motor to the screw 1:1 if direct drive.

What step count is set on the drives 1 (200), 1/2 (400), 1/4 (800) etc.

We can then help you work it out.

Slow down the homing speed in homing and limits to 20% or less.
