As your velocity in x & y are very similar I would try setting the acceleration for x more like your y figure.

If it only happens after long periods of use, is something getting hot and sticking?

or

is something short of lubrication?

Try increasing the acceleration and deceleration time, it may be skipping on short rapid moves.

You can modify all the screens in Mach by using the Screen editor, this can be downloaded from the download tab at the top of the forum.

Hi pabeader,

this looks very interesting, I will give this a go when I have finished installing the new spindle motor and inverter.

Thanks for that.

z1. CR
g28 z0 CR
m99

Make sure its like this

z1. CR

Where are you trying to use the 'L' command,

M98 P1000 L10 should work.

The spindle is driven by a mach3 controlled vari drive,  the spindle is locked by a small disc brake operated by a solenoid, if I had one or more proxy sensors set could I look for them with a macro and when found fire the solenoid and kill the spindle.  The spindle would be running at its minimum speed 25 rpm.

Any thoughts.

I see, can't argue with that.  It was not a criticism just a thought.
