Thanks Chad,

It will be about a week, I am just getting all the crap out of the control cabinet at the moment.

Quick question :-

What is the purpose of a 80mh 6A choke ?

Thanks

Graham.

Hi Rory,

converting line drawings to a CNC program is not a problem there a several programs to do this, have a look at these web sites :-

www.softcover.com

www.vectric.com

As for the gears, it depends what type of gears you are talking about,  if they are none precision then maybe, otherwise no.

Give us more detail on the types of gears.

Graham.

Hi Chad,

Thanks for the offer of help, I need it.

I am a mechanical engineer and software developer (payroll, invoice, database etc), my electronics is limited. Basic electrics is no problem.

As luck would have it I have a ModIO and a DigiSpeed XL, so it would be nice to use these,  by the way this is a mill so I will want to reverse the spindle for tapping.

I have had a look at the switching relay (RL3) and it is a 24V coil

The power rail in the machine has 5, 12, 24, 40 volt dc.

Thanks

Graham.

When using a CNC mill you have to imagine the tool is moving not the table,  this way the right hand rule works.

Right hand rule is

     +
     | /+
     |/__+

Thumb pointing right
First finger pointing away from you
Second finger pointing up

These are all your Plus directions

Maybe but the ones you suggest work with a 24V output from the dc drive, this one seems not to have one.

Or am I wrong?

Hi Chip,

since the first post I have found out a bit more about the drive.

It works with an analogue 0-10V input to control the speed, the direction is controlled by an external relay.

I have found this bit of a schematic but I am not sure its got all the detail I need.

Any ideas.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Confusion on Jog Mode / MPG / Shuttle Mode
« on: November 05, 2006, 01:05:36 AM »
Oh, you didn't mention 2 machines the first time.

On the macropump machine, your code may be causing the jog mode to be fixed in one mode.  Do you have the LCD screen fitted?  If so you can add bits into the code to tell you whats happening.

Email me the code and I will have a look, a photo of your hardware setup will help (wiring side).

If shuttle mode is on and you select a different jog mode you should get an alarm tellling you to turn shuttle mode off first.

If shuttle mode is on you will also get the step led flashing.  Selecting shuttle again should stop it.

On the second machine, if you don't have a MPG selected as on in the Ports and Pins - Encoder/MPGs config you can not select MPG in the jog mode.

Post your macropump file. It could be that.

You could fit a second parallel port or a ModIO

With modio you get 8 inputs and 8 outputs + 3 analogue
