Tangent Corner / Whats that car?
« on: November 23, 2006, 04:42:48 PM »
Hi people have been sending me emails asking me what the car is,

Its a 1988 Pilgrim Bulldog Mk4 (Kit Car)

2100cc twin carb with 5 speed gearbox, 0-60 is 6.5 secs

The colour is Jaguar Ice Blue,

Cream leather interior piped in blue with Ash dashboard and Ash door cappings

I built it myself over about 5 years.

Want to know more, just ask

Graham.

Here are some pictures of my part complet Boxford Mill,

The axis are working

Spindle part done just waiting for some more info on that.

The limits are giving me a problem (proxy switches at 24V)

Tool changer is part done, just working on the Mod IO macro for that.

Coolant,  the poor little thing would drown   ;D

Control panel, haven't even started that bit yet, lots of ideas but no action.

General Mach Discussion / Re: rotary axis setup

I see your point,  25,000 steps per port pin per second is probably the reason.

I built my rotary indexer at 10:1, thats probably why mine is fine.

You are making life hard for yourself,

If your rotary table is 50 to 1 ratio and your motor is 200 steps per rev multiply 50*200 and this is your steps per rev

set velocity and accel to what ever it will index at safely

That way if you want it to move 90 degrees you enter G00 G90 A90.

Remove the 'L0.0' from each line and replace them with a feed rate (F1.0), then try again

Tangent Corner / Re: Making of a spindle
« on: November 22, 2006, 03:38:23 AM »
It would be much easier to get an old spindle out of bridgeport or similar machine and drive it with a belt and pulley system on an external motor.

Making one involves a lot of messing about, turning, milling, heat treatment, grinding, and then if you want good running it must be dynamically balanced.

High speed angular contact bearings cost a fortune.

Not for the faint hearted.

Have you got a carrige return on the end of the M30 line?

If not it needs one.
