Mach Screens / Fanuc Look-a-like screen
« on: April 11, 2006, 11:13:39 AM »
Hi,

has any body got a turning screen set that looks like the fanuc 6T,11T or 18iT, all the Mach ones I have seen so far are way too complicated and over cluttered.  A nice basic screen is all I want.

Thanks

Graham.

Hi,

Is there a way to make the forum auto refresh so all new topics are shown as they are posted.

General Mach Discussion / Type of limit switch to use
« on: April 06, 2006, 03:10:05 AM »
Hi All,

I have some proxy switches NPN 5-30 volt with a 2mm sensing distance.  Can anybody give me a reason why I should NOT use these as limit switches.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / DC Spindle drive question
« on: February 07, 2006, 05:53:53 PM »
Hi All,

my lathe is fitted with a 3/4 HP spindle motor driven by a KB Electronics KBLC-240-D variable speed unit.  My question is this :- Should the spindle run at the same maximum speed in CW and CCW rotation.

Mine will do 2500 rpm CCW and only 1200 CW (reverse)

The lathe manufacturer (Warco Ltd) say this is normal,  its the first time I have seen this on a vari drive.

Any comments?

Thanks

Graham.

General Mach Discussion / Spindle speed control
« on: January 15, 2006, 10:38:08 AM »
Hi All,

My lathe has a variable speed controller that is operated by a rotary resistor that has a value of 4K7, my question is, can I connect the wires from the speed control into the parallel port without any other resistors.

Also it has a collar round the spindle with slots in and a infra red detector with 3 wires from it, can I also use these for the pulse count.

Thanks

Graham.

General Mach Discussion / Zero Return (Home Setting)
« on: January 08, 2006, 05:43:31 AM »
Hi All,

I have set up my lathe with home switches.  I am using servo motors with encoders and was wondering,

In Mach3 how is the home position determined?

Is it by sensing the home switch only or is it by sensing the switch and then looking for the zero mark on the encoder?

or is it done some other way?

Thanks

Graham.

General Mach Discussion / Touch Screens
« on: December 12, 2005, 07:44:59 PM »
Hi All,

can anybody tell me if Mach3 is compatable with touch screens, the one I have is a 15" with the touch output on the RS232.

I know I am all questions at the moment but things will change.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / help with wiring diagrams
« on: December 12, 2005, 06:42:56 PM »
Hi All,

is there a repository of standard/example wiring diagrams for limit switches, estop, MPG's with axis select switches etc.

It would make life a bit easier than reinventing the wheel.

Thanks

Graham.

General Mach Discussion / MPG's wanted
« on: December 11, 2005, 06:43:00 AM »
Hi All,

I am a bit new to this CNC retrofitting lark, although I have been using and programming the full size stuff for 20 years.

I am in the process of converting my lathe (Warco 250) to CNC and want to fit MPG's, my question is what type to buy and where to get them.

Thanks

Graham
