Works in progress / New 4 Axis Milling Screen Set (RaspScreen)
« on: January 05, 2007, 04:10:50 AM »
Hi All,

here is a part finished screen set for 4 axis milling, I have designed it to be clear, clean and simple, I am testing it for use on a 15" touch screen.

Put RaspScreen.set into the Mach3 folder

Put the RaspButtons folder inside Mach3\Bitmaps folder

PLEASE NOTE

The screen set is not finished and only part tested, load it and have a look but don't use it.

Any comments welcome.

General Mach Discussion / Tool offset table
« on: November 25, 2006, 04:45:17 PM »
Hi Art / Brian

I have asked this in the past, and the answer was 'Not at the moment'.

So

Is there a way now that I can read the data from the offset table using VB.

If there is no Mach command, can we PLEASE have a Offset-read and an Offset-write command.

It would be nice to be able to do :-

len = Read_Offset(no,0)
dia = Read_Offset(no,1)
lwear = Read_Offset(no,2)
dwear = Read_Offset(no,3)

and

Write_Offset(no,len,dia,lwear,dwear)

Thanks

Graham.

« on: November 23, 2006, 04:25:08 PM »
Here are some pictures of my part complet Boxford Mill,

The axis are working

Spindle part done just waiting for some more info on that.

The limits are giving me a problem (proxy switches at 24V)

Tool changer is part done, just working on the Mod IO macro for that.

Coolant,  the poor little thing would drown   ;D

Control panel, haven't even started that bit yet, lots of ideas but no action.

General Mach Discussion / NPN Proxy switch help
« on: November 19, 2006, 08:25:41 AM »
Hi All,

This Boxford I am converting has NPN proxy switches for homing, they work at 24VDC black and brown are power and blue is signal.

My question is this can I connect them direct to an input or do I need to convert the signal in some way?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / DC Spindle drive question, What to do with it!
« on: November 03, 2006, 02:01:54 PM »
Hi All,

I took the plunge and bought the Boxford Mill,  its a very tidy machine, very little use.

Now I am in the throws of converting it to Mach3,  most of it is straight forward enough but the DC spindle drive is a bit of an enigma.

From the pictures below can anybody tell me if I can use this from Mach.

It looks to have -10V and a 10V connector on the green PCB but I can not find any drawing or info about the setup.

It looks as if it may use a relay to change direction.

Any help much appreciated

Graham.

General Mach Discussion / Boxford VMC190 Conversion Information Wanted
« on: October 28, 2006, 05:57:43 AM »
Hi All,

I have been offered a Boxford VMC190 mill and was wondering if anybody has converted one to Mach3.

The price is right and the machine runs now but as usual with these there is no software.

The machine is complete with a tool changer and coolant mist system,  my main concern is how I get all the I/O for the tool changer.  It looks to need at least 10 inputs and 8 outputs.

Writing some VB is not a problem, its the electronic hardware side I am not too sure about.

Can I use the original spindle drive unit.

Any drawings and hardware recommendations would be very helpful.

Thanks

Graham.
