General Mach Discussion / Re: NOOB and screen sets
« on: March 26, 2010, 01:00:16 PM »
Hi Hood,
I db'le checked to make sure the screen was maxed out, it was. I also completely uninstalled Mach, reinstalled 1.9, the sceen set took up all the available screen as it should.
Upgraded the install to 3.04 and the screen set was reduced in size again, the same as a complete "new" install of 3.04. I have attached the xml's of both versions maybe you can make sense of it. I wonder if another Jpeg is getting added in the background that isn't in 1.90

Thanks Mucho

General Mach Discussion / NOOB and screen sets
« on: March 22, 2010, 06:59:33 PM »
This is probably a easy one for  you guys. I just "upgraded" my 1.94 version of mach to 3.04. Installed the new driver. But now my screen sets only fill about 3/4 of the screen vertically, horizontally the run almost all the way across. I have auto screen enlarge checked. They completely fill the screen in the older version. Any ideas?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Strange Mach3 stoppages in plasma mode

You will find it from Config menu then General config page, its top right. The Debounce Interval is just the length of time a signal has to be seen by Mach before it acts on it, the time is in micro seconds
Hood

Thanks for your help on this. it turns out it was noise from the current transformer which gives a arc good signal. I bought a automation wire harness that tapped into the pcb board on the torch. I cut my first piece of metal I didn't have to scrap in 9 months.
Thanks for your respondes

Is there an error message in the ticker line when it trips? Kind of sounds like noise from the torch is causing the limits to trip, setting a debounce interval of 2000 might help, if it does then lower until you get the problem again then increase slightly.
Hood

No message in the ticker, just "Reset" flashing. I'll try to find the debounce area and give that a shot. What is debounce?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Strange Mach3 stoppages in plasma mode

I have a Dynacnc plasma/router with a Dyna6000 series controller. Mach3 ver 1.9. The torch is a automated Cutmaster 52 with a hand torch.  My problem is the on plasma side. The machine will cut and follow the gcode fine for (usually) 14-20 inches then it trips off (goes into reset mode) shutting everthing down. If I only cut 12 inches and stop, then do a new pierce and start to cut I can go another 12 inches or so, etc etc. Sometimes more sometimes less.   Makes no difference if THC is on or off.
The machine is flawless when cutting wood with a router.
I am at my wits end and about ready to quit the plasma portion all together unless one of you Gurus can point me in the right direction.
Any ideas???

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / NooB: Torch Volt control in Mach
« on: May 20, 2009, 10:23:40 AM »
I'm having issues where it seems that torch volts are not being sensed correctly, I think, maybe.
I have a Dynacnc mach and a Cutmaster 52 hand torch retrofited to Dyna's THC system.
The problem I believe, was that Mach could not get or recognize the torch volts. The torch would ignite , start to move, then starts to raise up until it lost the arc. Or if I set the volts below 85 the torch would dive into the material. I took the torch to a local shop and they told me the that one voltage lead was on the "electrode" connection(were it should be), but the other was on the "tip" connection and should have been on the Work#1 connection. The boys in the shop said once the tip transfer ed the arc to the work piece I was not getting the correct voltage readouts. Haven't fired it up since the wiring change
All that being said, I now notice that there is a spot in the config area of Mach for "Torch volt control". Does this have to be checked in order for THC to function properly or is the THC probably built into Dyna's 6000 contoller.

Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!

Thanks
Mike

I'm a noob, but, had the same rough running on my Dynacnc mach. at first. I set lookahead to 200 lines, CV mode on, CV options off, make sure "plasma mode" is off. I did that and the machine smoothed right out, 3D cutting speeds went from 25IPM to 110 IPM max. In 2d cutting I have it set a 300IPM and it has no troubles, I don't what it can do 2D maxed out. I'm using a Dell 530 dual core with add-on cards for the ports.  The computer complains(splash screen) that Mach won't let it go into standby mode on long cuts, but it doesn't seem to cause problems. Just my 2cents worth.

Good luck

General Mach Discussion / Re: Noob with SLOOOWW 3D Carving Speeds- HELP!!
« on: November 18, 2008, 04:45:29 PM »
The xml will allow a lot faster than that on acell, I can slide it up to 280in/s/s. You wont get that but you may well get more than your 30 that you are at, might even pay to drop your rapids a bit so that your steppers will respond to a higher acell as you seem to be doing lots of short moves rapids wont be as important as acell.
Hood

If you try the "z" axis slider, it will only let you got to about 105 velocity and 30 acell.  X&Y will let you go much higher but I think Z is my problem child.
Is anyone get "actual" 3D contouring speeds in the 70-100 ipm range or is that to much to hope for??

Thanks Again

Can you increase the Z acceleration and see if it makes a difference?

I have it set at max(30). According to machine builder this is the fastest it can run due to resonance(whatever that is) between Lead screw, servo motor and lead screw nut. I would try higher but that is the fastest the XML allows.
He also mention that the new versions of Mach are not compatible with his controller. Does that make sense or has he not taken the time to set up his controller?

Thanks

Here is my XML file if someone wants to take a look.
I surely would appreciate any help I can get to speed this machine up in 3D.

Thanks Again
