Wayne,
I may need you to do a bit of testing of threading with an encoder... Tell me when you are going to be about ready and I will start that project (I need a month to get time to start)

I was thinking the same thing :)

If I ever get time I think that would be a cool toy and I think there are a few OEM's that would like to have that ... have you seen a Barcoder that is not over 300.00?

thanks

You need the pro version of Lcam to get the pocketing.... that should do it Come to  thinkf of it the newest rev you can test the pocketing but it will not output the Gcode.

General Mach Discussion / Re: mach 3 and encoder

Rogers machine has a nice board for the encoders to hook into and most of the users only use about 250 - 500 count encoders.... a 500 line will give you 2000 PPR of the servo and that is as good as you are going to get from a stepper... Also have a look at US Digital for the encoders.

Hope that helps

Mike,
Nice looking little machine! I think you are going to like the CV of Mach on the machine :) it shoudl go a bit faster then it did in the past!

General Mach Discussion / Re: will a video card help?
« on: September 11, 2007, 10:21:08 PM »
10MB files are a pain in the butt  :o  There are users running files much bigge then that and they have to turn off the toolpath it is just to much for the poor computer to do :(

A new video card would help but I have no idea how much...

Thanks

All you need to do is have a look at the vector direction of each move and send that to the A axis to that angle... If the difference from one vector to the other is greater then the max angle we pick up the head and set it back down at the new angle... that is about all there is to it :)

Hope that is what you are looking for
