Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: Teach Wizard A Bit more

the Teach wizard it not named well for the Mach3 users... Teach is a term used in the Machine tool industry for what the Wizard is doing. Sorry about that :( ... I have been thinking about changing the name to Trace.

As for using the Wizard I find it to be slow BUT it is MUCH faster than trying to draw it into a cad system. In the example of the car grill there were No lines in the grill only arcs! That is not simple to get into cad! I think a video will help to show you how to use the wizard and make things a little simpler for you. that said what do you think would help make this better for you?

Thank you for the input.

It looks to me that we will have it ready for Monday. There have been many changes and many new things added in. So to keep every one happy i have Rob running all of the wizards and shapes tomorrow. I am in hopes that he is happy and keeps my work load down :) Russ will be doing the last of the new graphics and we are on the way!

Once it is ready i will have it added to the download section of NewFangled. I will post here as soon as it is uploaded.

Thank you and happy Chips!

The Teach wizard is not simple to use... This will change as I have time. The problem that i am working on now is the math to make it simple. I have had to learn vector math to do the things that are going to make this a VERY simple wizard to use. Please just give me some time and you will be happy (would you like to do some testing?).
As for the shape wizard it is VERY simple to use. You tell it X Y position (of the center), depth, Step depth, and rotation. I think you are going to like this.

Thank you

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Teach Wizard A Bit more

After Benny fixes my uploading problem Pic's will be added.

The FIRST think you need to do in teach is have a part OR a drawing on the table of your mill/router/plasma. The teach wizard WILL NOT work at the desk!
1. once you have the part ready to trace you need to jog to where you would like to start the part
2. press the NEW TECH FILE button. This will make a new file that you can "TEACH" the Gcode into.
3. Now Press the Rapid button too write a rapid move to where you are
4. Jog the Z axis down (Should be in Negative Zoos) and press "Liner Feed Move"
5. now move to a point and press  "Liner Feed Move" If you would like to change the feed rate you can at any time
6. to make an Arc is a bit harder The LAST point written to the tech file is the START of the Arc, So when you press "Arc Move" (the first time) you need to be at some point on the Arc(about mid arc).
7. Now jog to the ENDPOINT of the Arc and press the "Arc Move" button.

That is a bad bunch of steps but it will get you started...

It is a VERY fun tool to play with! You can make 3D arc moves :)

Hope this gets you started...
Happy teaching
Brian

I would like to thank mikezcnc & barker806 for your good answers to my question. i did not think it was so hard
of a problem?  Over the years I have sent many people good information about a problem they were having
even if I  thought they were lazy but sent them anyway.

Is this forum about solving problems or busting balls?

Sorry for my bad spelling and grammer.

                   Steve

Srteve,
I don't know about busting balls... we do like to have fun and help where we can. I know I did not reply to you question as Art had posted to it. On the other hand Mike posted so I figured I would do what could (My bad for helping).  As for your problem could you ask the people that sell the router OR we could help you convert some of your settings. The Max Vel in Mach 2 was in Units Per Sec and in Mach 3 it is Units Per Min... This is going to be off by * 60. All the other stuff you should be able to write down on paper and enter it. If you are truly having trouble I could help change over the file for you. It would take me about 30min and I could have all the settings for you machine changed over.

thanks
Brian

Benny I can't see your pic's :( I think it hates me  :'( ....
Benny do you have my wizard set? If you don't  have it I may have a gift for you  ;) There is a new wizard that is cur rectangle that will cut the inside or the out side with a helical path. I have been DREAMING about building one of the arcade deals ::) I am thinking about adding in one more goodie for cutting out a logo. I have an Artsoft logo that I have been playing with and it seems very cool.

Well time to get back to making code ... If you can get the file thing fixed I will post some stuff up.

Thank you and Please keep thinking about what  you would like to see :)
