General Mach Discussion / Rank newbie question
« on: June 29, 2012, 11:41:40 PM »
Hi, I got the cnc bug about 3yrs ago, bought plans and built a router that does work, I also purchased the Mach program, now what? I gave up in frustration, today I decided to dig it out and try again. My problem as a newbie is where do I go from here, I would like to draw simple aluminum parts for my other hobbies, convert to g code and run them. Do I lay out a chunk of cash for a cad-cam program and try to learn it? I am retired so learning something new is not as easy as it used to be, are there any free programs or low cost ones that would work for me?
Any help or direction would be appreciated.
Thanks
Terry

Sorry, I thought I was asking a legitimate question, although I find it hard to believe all the guys using MasterCam etc. paid $10,000 for it as stated in one reply, some of the sites advertising, are OEM Software Discount, Cheap OEM etc.
I can see by the sarcasm in the replies this is not the forum for someone new to CadCam. See ya.

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / cad-cam purchase?
« on: November 10, 2008, 02:35:36 PM »
Hi, I am looking at cad cam programs, I have a desk top router powered by Mach3, does anyone have any experience, good or bad with Master Cam X2 MR2 SP1? I can get the program for a good price and as it is just a hobby I cannot justify the cost of v-carve etc.
Any feedback you can offer would be appreciated.
Thank you

Mach3 under Vista / mach 3 and vista
« on: November 17, 2007, 02:20:02 PM »
Hi, I saved my mach 3 from my old computer (XP) and loaded it onto my new computer (vista 32), all went well with reg change etc., until I came to "go to C:\mach3 folder and right click driver test exe." I can not find driver test exe in the mach folder. Where do I go from here? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks, the new version is not in the Mach folder but a stand alone, I think I will delete the old one and move the new one into its place.

Hi guys, I have just looked at my Mach 3 program folder and I have an older version of Lazycam in the folder, I have the latest version of lazycam as a separate download, should I be deleting the older one and moving the new download into my mach folder?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thanks for the reply Brett, I saved a copy of my old profile on the wife's computer, that is all I have of the original install, if I e-mail it to my computer would I then just drag it into the Mach folder? Would it automaticly write over the existing profile?
Thanks for your patience, I am not good with computers.
